These boys went to preschool together 20 yrs ago. They ran around together so much, we dubbed them “The Three Amigos.” Today, Bryan (middle) made his MLB debut for the Mariners in Arlington, Texas — and Trevin (my son) and Jason were both there to watch. So cool! Congrats, Bryan!
One more time ahead of tomorrow’s WNBA Finals showdown: The occasionally euphoric and sometimes heartbreaking history of Game 7s in Bay Area sports.

Good column by @CandaceDBuckner. She has a point (several, actually)
Good read here
Outspoken and unfiltered, Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has already made headlines just five games into his NBA career. He wants to keep being himself, and Golden State wants that, too. sfchronicle.com/sports/warri…
Terrible defensive quarter for @valkyries — allowing Dream to get into the lane time after time, leading to wide-open 3-point shots
An even-year fall tradition in Santa Clara: #49ers pouring millions of dollars into local politics. Our story ahead of next week's election, with @LanceWCIR: sfchronicle.com/sports/49ers… via @sfchronicle
Warriors’ Draymond Green, no doubt mindful of what happened in 2016 vs. Cavaliers, reminds @valkyries on cusp of WNBA title: "Three is a long way from four." Story: sfchronicle.com/sports/warri… via @sfchronicle
Good read here. As @bylucaevans points out, Yaxel’s curiosity and willingness to learn might be his most impressive traits
Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg is learning more quickly than anyone anticipated, and that's what is helping make him unstoppable, as he was Monday against the Denver Nuggets. sfchronicle.com/sports/warri…
Veronica Burton was passive in Games 2 & 3, as Atlanta took control of the WNBA Finals. Not anymore. Now the @valkyries are on the brink of a title, and Burton is a big reason. Story: sfchronicle.com/sports/artic…
Atlanta’s Angel Reese gently complains about not getting calls from the refs — and then her coach, Karl Smesko, rips them, saying physicality allowed on Reese is “ridiculous.”
Early story from Chase, by @ShaynaRubin: sfchronicle.com/sports/artic…
Valkyries lead 25-22 after offensively challenged first half. WNBA's top two defenses cranking up the intensity, as you'd expect with Finals tied 2-2. Burton leads GSV with nine points. Gabby Williams struggling (1-8 from field). Reese with 5 points/10 rebounds for Atlanta
Lots of energy here for Game 5 of WNBA Finals. Good, early omen for @valkyries: Defensive-minded center Kiah Stokes scored more points (4) in tonight’s first five minutes than her career average (3.3).
Ross was a class act. One of the best business and always had time for young scribes. Very sad news.
If there was a Mount Rushmore of ball writers, Ross Newhan would be on it. He was a giant in the biz, a Hall-of-Famer who spent much of his 43-year career covering @MLB for the LA Times. He was a mentor to myself and so many others, a friend to all. Ross died today at 89. RIP💔
Former Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer reflects on Natalie Nakase as a player and lauds Nakase’s impact as a coach in guiding @valkyries to WNBA Finals: sfchronicle.com/sports/artic…
From late last night:
Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg lamented his six turnovers in Friday night's deflating loss to Memphis, then defended his verbal jousting with Luka Doncic two nights earlier. "He's not Michael Jordan," Lendeborg said. Story from Chase Center: sfchronicle.com/sports/warri… via @sfchronicle

#Warriors really needed this game with trip to Phoenix-Denver-Minnesota. Epic collapse to blow 12-point lead in final 3:47. Turnovers (19) still an issue, and lack of size. Grizzlies center Zach Edey plus-25 in only 22 minutes
