Carrick’s Pre-Chelsea Press Conference (Thursday)
Michael Carrick spoke to the media a day earlier ahead of the Chelsea game.
One of the first big questions was about his own future and whether he had received any reassurances from the hierarchy.
Carrick’s response:
“I don’t need any assurances from anyone. I totally get the position and the responsibilities and what comes with that… I really don’t need any assurances from anyone in that regard.”
Asked if he was surprised to still be in the job:
“No. I am here to do my job and do my job for the team… I’m desperate to make us better and improve things.”
Clear message from the gaffer.
Focus is fully on the team and Saturday’s game at Stamford Bridge.

Kobbie Mainoo scored the winner against Liverpool, then looked the cameras dead in the eye and said this about Michael Carrick:
“He’s played a huge part. You want to follow him and fight for him and die for him on the pitch.”
That wasn’t just post-match adrenaline. After being frozen out under Amorim and staring at a loan exit, Mainoo was thrown straight back into the team the moment Carrick arrived.
He responded by becoming one of the manager’s most consistent performers, publicly thanking him for the trust that got him back into the England picture, and making it clear the squad were behind Carrick from day one.
When a player is willing to go that far for a manager who revived his career, the loyalty hits different.
