“Victory has defeated you.” My biggest takeaway from the election is the lesson of hubris. Trump/R’s thought they had license to get away with corruption and literal murder. But the laws of cause and effect, crime and punishment, still apply.

Later today, we are officially ending all remaining support for the Iron Fish network. A few days ago, we observed abnormal activity involving wIRON and the ChainPort bridge. After working with ChainPort and reviewing their logs, we discovered that the cause was an inflation bug in the Iron Fish blockchain itself. We traced the bug to a commit from early 2019 in the Merkle tree implementation. The developer at the time implemented a standard Merkle tree. However, because of nuances in how a note’s nullifier is calculated (the mechanism that lets a normal user spend their funds), the attacker was able to spend the same note more than once. The attacker then compounded the exploit, aggregated their notes, and exited through the ChainPort bridge. This code path was within the scope of both our external and internal audits, but the bug wasn’t caught during review. For closure, we’ve committed the patch for the exploit, with a detailed postmortem included in the PR, before shutting down and archiving the ironfish repo. The meta-analysis here is that software that can’t be upgraded immediately (most of crypto), is in an extremely precarious position. The ability to find and exploit vulnerabilities in technically complex code is becoming commoditized. Safety guardrails on US frontier models make it difficult for companies to use them to patch security vulnerabilities, while abliterated open-source models are approaching frontier capabilities. We wish everyone all the best, and we hope crypto finds a path through this. Thank you all.

Man, the dude really is just happy as a clam at his rallies.
Trump pauses his rally to dip a napkin in a glass of water, wipe his eye, then toss the glass of water onto the ground

I wouldn’t call them inimitable! There are many such successful recipes to be found. Successful countries, companies, etc. But they are the exception in crypto for sure. Luckily, through all the tough times, Zcash has developed a working recipe atm.
Replying to @zooko
I keep thinking about this comment from roommatemusing: nitter.cf/roommatemusing/status/… I really agree with it. Zcash’s culture and institutions, including coin-holders, are inimitable, irreplaceable, and are the ongoing source of Zcash’s value. ⤵️

Zcash just retroactively self-funded $1.5m to the researcher who found and disclosed the Orchard bug via a permissionless coinholder vote administered by a Zcash non-profit. You can’t build these type of deep governance, institutional, and cultural systems overnight.

Ppl saw how quickly and honorably the Zcash devs identified and fixed a defcon 1-level protocol bug and said this is a project to invest in. Bullish bug.

What the literal fuck
Zcash ($ZEC) hit $1500 on September 17 at 1:23 PM ET. As part of $LAPTOP’s novel prediction mechanism, 0.25% of the total token supply has been burned.

when i was at cambridge a professor was teaching algebraic geometry and offhandedly made some claim that was not clear to me i asked "is that obvious?" he says "yes" i asked "is it obvious that it's obvious?" he pauses for a few seconds and goes "...no"
A mathematician is giving a lecture and says, "It is obvious that…." Then he stops, stares at the board, and thinks silently for ten minutes. Finally he brightens up and says, “Yes! It is obvious.”

My friends and I were at a hotel. They ran into an older beekeeper. “Oh hey our friend Ryan is a beekeeper!” I introduce myself. He asks with a big drawl, “How many hives you runnin’?” I told him 26. He nodded politely. “3,000.” I was brutally beemogged. 😮‍💨

Why is the Odyssey even R-rated? There’s no nudity, not even that much graphic violence, no swearing…
Christopher Nolan’s ‘THE ODYSSEY’ will earn $1.4B-$1.5B by the end of its theatrical run globally. Potentially outgrossing ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and become the highest grossing R-rated film ever.

Rewatched the Tom Holland Spider-Man’s and sadly, they’re mostly slop. Half the movies are just people stuttering over each other. Childish jokes that take you out of the movie. The action is just rote.. Most emotional part is Tobey and Doc Ock coming back.

Need to rewatch the Tobey ones to see if I’m tripping, but I remember the first two, especially the second, just being damn good movies.
