35 years ago today, we got our first ever up-close look at an asteroid! On Oct 29, 1991, NASA's Galileo spacecraft—two years into its journey to Jupiter—flew by Gaspra, an asteroid roughly 10 miles (~17 km) long, taking this series of images on its approach.
