Man with a hot dog stand: is a really bad idea to cook your own hot dogs. Trust me.
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”

yeah dude fuck it. epic meal time guy is also a cast member on the h3 podcast. why wouldn't he be. tomorrow I'm gonna see a clip and it's like projared and noam chomsky behind another fucking desk somewhere and I'll just have to accept it.
It looks like Klein/11 was unfolding LIVE in a group chat. The H3 crew already seemed to know what was coming. They did their best to keep things professional, but the tension was palpable, and the awkward moments spoke volumes. What a mess.

"Valve has held gaming back"
Says CEO of company that brough exclusivity contracts to pc.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney says Valve "has held gaming back for years."
Sweeney was replying to Kiaran Ritchie, a former principal animation programmer at Epic, who criticized Steam's 30% cut and said "You could vibe code a Steam alternative in a week." Sweeney wrote that Valve locks developers' PC games into "Steamworks' social walled garden where players can't talk to other players on iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or even other PC stores."
A community note was added saying many games use Steamworks only for authentication to allow crossplay and handle the rest themselves. Sweeney called the note "fake," saying Steam Datagram Relay "isn't related to the things I cited: social, and players talking to each other across platforms."
