Today, I joined global leaders and stakeholders at the Africa Food Systems Forum 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, to shape the future of Africa’s food systems. For Nigeria, this aligns strongly with the Renewed Hope Agenda and our commitment to strengthening food security through innovation, responsible biotechnology and effective regulation. At NBMA, we remain committed to ensuring that modern biotechnology is safely and responsibly harnessed to support agricultural transformation, food security and sustainable development.

The Bottom line: Biotechnology is not just science. It’s jobs, higher incomes, climate resilience, and GDP growth. Countries that invested early are seeing billions in returns. Nigeria can do the same.

Let’s Talk Facts MYTH: "Biotech foods are unsafe" FACT: Every biotech crop goes through 5-7 years of safety testing by scientists and regulators like NBMA before it reaches you. Food safety is non-negotiable. What other questions do you have about agricultural biotech? Ask me below 👇 I’ll answer! #AskMeAboutBiotech #ScienceFacts #NBMA

Farmers First Mama Aisha used to spray her cowpea 8 times. With PBR Cowpea, she sprays just twice. She saves money. Her children eat better. Her farm produces more. Agricultural biotechnology = dignity for farmers. Drop a ❤️ if you support science that helps farmers. #FarmersMatter #BiotechForGood

The Future of Food 🌾 *Biotech is feeding the future🌾 Imagine cowpea that resists pests, cassava that doesn’t get rotten, and rice that grows with less water. That’s Agricultural Biotechnology at work. It’s not about “GMO vs No GMO”. It’s about: More food. Less hunger. Better farmers’ income. What crop do you think Nigeria needs biotech help with most? 👇 #AgBiotech #FoodSecurity #NigeriaAgric

GM crops safe? The science says yes ✅ *WHO*: GM foods on market today have passed safety checks + no health risks found. *EFSA*: EU-approved GM crops = as safe as conventional. FAO: Biotech can help cut hunger. NBMA Nigeria: Bt cowpea + TELA maize passed strict safety tests. GM foods = tested, monitored, safe. Questions? Ask me #ScienceNotFear#GMOs Food Safety

Let me tell you something extraordinary about Beans production in Nigeria Before beans are harvested, farmers usually apply pesticides up to 8 times against pests. The main chemical used is called Dichlorvos. These chemicals leave a residue in the food, the normal world standard acceptable residue limit is 0.01mg per Kg, Nigerian beans contains up to 4.6mg per kg of Dichlorvos i.e our beans contained 460 times more than the acceptable residue limit. Let me break it down more If the world standard accepts 1 stone in one cup of Garri, Nigeria Garri has 460 stones in one cup. The beans you ate recently have 460 times more dangerous chemical residue than anywhere in the world. But something extraordinary happened. Nigerian Biotechnologists came through for farmers and consumers The reason for the 8x chemical is Pod-Borer pest. Scientists in Samaru Zaria created a modified bean variety. This variety of beans is resistant to the Maruca pest that destroys the pod of the black-eyed beans plant. This means farmers spend less in cultivating beans, less chemical in our food, more harvest and cheaper food for the country. Have you noticed why our Black-eyed beans (white beans) are very cheap and clean? Shout out to Plant breeders & Biotechnology. Science is designed to make life easier for humans not to stress. If you want to know more about agricultural biotechnology & it's important to Nigerians check OFAB platform. A true Agric biotech information source..
