Michelangelo Antonioni - Framing Isolation Abandoning conventional narrative drive, the Italian master pioneered a radically quiet aesthetic, using precise framings, vast empty spaces, and indifferent architecture to capture characters adrift in search of existential meaning.

About 700 years ago on Marco Island, a Calusa artist carved this deer head from wood, painted it blue, black and white, inlaid the eyes, and attached the ears so they could actually move on cords. Ancient Florida had moving wooden masks.

No one is actually in a dedicated "part of twitter" containment space no matter who you follow or block. Forum nostalgia also forgets that many of them had power tripping mods and jannies. It wasn't all rainbows
this is literally why this dogshit site is like this 🫥

But can I bring iced coffee to an AI interview?

I think it’s more to do with cartoon media can be played back in addition to being very impressionable, so it’s easier to indulge oneself instead of seeking intimacy with others. We definitely need a new volume of Krafft-Ebing that covers all this.
I've said it before but people get the cause and effect on this exactly backwards. People develop fetishes about things they see at exactly the time they hit puberty, which often means things that happen in cartoons.

No? I think in addition to aging out of the spotlight, millennials are realizing that actually we weren’t as progressive or radical as we thought, hence constant posts like these.
Is it me or is Gen Z turning into those 80s/90s Boomer/Gen X parents with the whole Satanic Panic puritanical spiel?

“aw gee doesnmt it suck that we have to be skeptical of every artist’s content because AI??” is starting to sound like those suburban women who think they’re being gangstalked by human traffickers. It’s just neo-virtue signaling.

Most arts funding specifically looks for impact stories (from underrepresented communities no less) so no, that edgy chopped tits dead baby stuff really doesn’t fly
nobody can make transgressive art anymore because everything you portray has to be appended with a 2000 word essay about how you dont endorse it. nothing can have any bite, everything must be neutered and give the viewer (or more aptly, consumer) a soft landing.

You can find that sort of sign of the end times sentiment anywhere and in any decade. The actual fascinating part has more to do with pictures of these open spaces being viewed on screens rather than people moving through them physically.
The most fascinating, most under-discussed element of the recent boom in liminal spaces and the obsession of abandoned commercial spaces is that it’s directly tied to the slow motion fall/collapse of our current global super powers; as well as how the new generations missed out.

Everyone talks about how they miss 22-26 23 minute episodes a season but nobody ever talks about how they miss scenes structured around commercial breaks.

Underexplored effect of the attacks is how it gave people permission to be sincere and even provided a template wrapped in stars and stripes. Now we conflate displays of hyper-emotion, like screaming at the sky, with sincerity and “doing something.”
