If a defense contractor stores CUI in a cloud service, DFARS 252.204-7012 requires that service to meet the FedRAMP Moderate baseline or equivalent. If your cloud provider can't produce those, it's a gap in your CMMC assessment. #FedRAMP #CMMC

A penetration test tries to find as many exploitable weaknesses as possible within a defined scope and timeframe. If you haven't had a pen test, start there. Red teaming makes sense once the basics are tested and you want to know whether your team would notice an attack.

When an organization needs SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA, the instinct is to start with whichever audit is due first. Download the report: hubs.la/Q04CPlzq0 #Compliance #ISO27001

Ask RSI Security: What should a compliance program be doing in the months between audits? Have a compliance question you want answered? Leave it in the comments or send it to [email protected], and we may answer it in a future Ask RSI Security post.

Myth: Audit fatigue comes from having too many frameworks. Fact: It usually comes from collecting the same evidence separately for each one. An access review can satisfy SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and HIPAA if it's documented once against a shared control. #Compliance #GRC

Since March 2025, PCI DSS 4.0.1 requires MFA for all access into the cardholder data environment, with limited exceptions. Remote access from outside your network has required it longer. Our checklist covers each requirement: hubs.la/Q04CP7ZY0

Three things to know about security team burnout: 1. When the same people own prep, incident response, and operations, audit season pulls them off the work that keeps you secure. 2. Tired teams make documentation mistakes. 3. Turnover takes undocumented knowledge with it.

PCI DSS 4.0.1 scanning requirements, summarized: ✔️ Internal scans at least once every three months (11.3.1) ✔️ Rescans after any significant change, internal and external ✔️ Rescans until high-risk and critical findings are resolved #PCIDSS #VulnerabilityManagement

Ad hoc security works until it doesn’t. The problem is that organizations rarely notice the transition point until they’re already past it. 👉 Learn more about building a structured security program with RSI Security. #CyberMaturity #Cybersecurity

The assessment closed. The report is clean. Most teams have no structured plan for what comes next. The assessment is the starting line. The teams that treat it as a finish line find out what that costs at the next audit cycle. #ContinuousCompliance #CyberMaturity

This week's threat landscape highlights a clear and consistent pattern: the systems built to manage and protect everything else — network access controllers, personnel databases, collaboration platforms, and identity recovery mechanisms — became the front door. #ThreatReport

CUI handling requirements are where most CMMC Level 2 gaps actually live — and most organizations don't find out until the assessor does. 👉 See where your organization stands — schedule a CMMC readiness review with RSI Security, an authorized C3PAO. Link in comments.

The standard response to audit fatigue is some version of "we need more resources." More people. Better tooling. Bigger budget. Those things can help at the margins. They don't address the structural condition that produces the fatigue in the first place. #AuditFatigue

Phase II contractual requirements are paused — but per the Cyber AB's most recent Town Hall, C3PAOs are actively conducting Level 2 assessments right now. DFARS 252.204-7012 remains in force. The pause created time. It didn't create a reason to stop preparing. #CMMC #CMMCLevel2

Finding from our new report: most major compliance frameworks — NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, CMMC, HITRUST — assess many of the same underlying security outcomes. Access control, logging, incident response, and encryption show up across nearly all of them.
