Perfectly made 🎉
Replying to @UgandaMediaCent
@UgandaMediaCent made this!
Many of the people in the video work there.
Imagine what we will be like when we actually get proper funding!

PEARL A.I ...APP 🤖🇺🇬
Congratulations💪
To my guy @rugaba98, one of the brilliant minds behind the latest tourism project, Pearl A.I, from @VUKampala! @ReachDrMuganga
Paul will be among the selected young innovators showcasing their 2026 technological innovations at the 5th UG-Kenya Coast Tourism Innovations & Summit in Mombasa, Kenya. 🇺🇬🇰🇪
They have developed a system designed to enhance tourism services, from bookings and tour guiding to itinerary planning, accommodation, and much more.
This is one of the programmes we are passionate about, supporting young innovators who are using technology to transform the tourism industry.
Special thanks to the organising committee for recognising and giving the youth a platform to showcase their innovations. 👏

A University that has just come around not more than 15 years ago, shaking tables of Universities that have been around for over 100 years 😅.
Ask Nokia to tell you how it goes!😅
You had better adapt or else...
Winter is coming!🥶

We live in an ignorant society. Only someone with such a narrow mindset would think that a qualification is less valuable simply because it was obtained from an institution other than Makerere University!
Thank you for the invitation 💯📌

At first glance, you might think someone got a little too creative with AI.
But no, these are the actual design impressions of the upcoming @VUKampala campus in the heart of Kampala, Naguru to be exact, close to @Phanerookampala.
Yes, this is happening, and I am excited to share that work begins this year.
We cannot wait to see these images become something you can actually walk into, experience, and call home.
This one is going to be beautiful.

🇺🇸🇨🇳 The U.S. and China may be trying to win two different AI races.
America still has the overwhelming advantage in raw compute.
Nearly 3/4 of the world's AI computing power is estimated to sit in the U.S. China has just over 14%.
American companies are also spending hundreds of billions more on AI infrastructure.
But China is attacking the problem from the other direction.
Its models are increasingly competitive while using fewer resources, Chinese models dominate OpenRouter's usage rankings, and Beijing has something increasingly precious in the AI race:
enormous amounts of cheap electricity and the ability to build energy infrastructure quickly.
So the emerging competition looks less like:
Who builds the smartest model?
And more like:
America: How much intelligence can we produce with extraordinary amounts of compute?
China: How much intelligence can we produce without it?
Because the country with the biggest models doesn't necessarily dominate the AI age.
It may be the country that makes intelligence cheap enough to put everywhere.

One of the biggest hindrances for AI adoption in Uganda 🇺🇬 is the lack of / inconsistent infrastructure i.e internet etc . That’s why for now , we are at mainly At admiration level of AI as a country
When we talk about embracing Artificial Intelligence in Uganda my mind runs to these crucial areas of focus, without perfume arms that see pests and prices in time, Clinics that borrow eyes they do not have, classrooms that catch a lost learner in term one, money that moves fairly to a stall, a state that finds the file quickly, the languages the machine can hear, power that stays on, important national data that is not stolen, jobs that still have mud and mercy, rules that know the difference between a student and a surgeon.
These are key areas that we should deep dive into by first looking at AI as an enabling tool. Build capacity both technically and resources.

The tragedy of the African elite is that they conflate China's engineering capacity at home with its intentions abroad.
When Uganda hands over a multimillion dollar infrastructure project to Beijing, they do so under the naive delusion that they are buying the same world class efficiency seen in Shanghai or Shenzhen.
But they miss the fundamental point, China builds for China; they merely extract from Africa.
Here, it is strictly a game of unmitigated profit.
It is a cynical exercise in cutting corners, leveraging substandard materials, and deploying subpar construction techniques to maximize their margins.
They know our corrupt systems will never hold them to account, so they give us infrastructure built to expire before the loans are even repaid.
Eng. Ronald Balimwezo's confrontation is a brave, proper stance of leadership, but one man isn't enough.
Every system in Uganda, and every system across Africa, needs to be that strict and confrontational with Chinese companies, miners, and businesses, if the continent is to protect itself.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Dear @rigathi I see what you have done here but you need an education on the genesis of this policy. It was no other than Jomo Kenyata who led negotiations with the British government on reduction of Asian influence on the East African economies. He was joined by Apollo Milton Obote. These efforts were rebuffed. It led to a coup by Idi Amin of course, but Amin ( a confidant of Obote) retained the policy and brutally enforced repatriation of Asians, which you cite, over British objections. There were geopolitical implications in part due to the complexity of the post World War situation and the cold war that followed.
This is not the same environment Kenya is in today ( I may be corrected) and Idi Amin has been since retrospectively absolved, by some quarters, despite the knockon consequences of this policy.
There are other ways to highlight Kenya's political economy without reaching out to an under-understood Ugandan/East African trope such as was Gen Idi Amin in his era. Thank you.
In August 1972, Ugandan Dictator Idi Amin Dada gave foreigners of Indian, Bangladesh and Pakistan descent from South Asia 90 days to leave Uganda.
Roughly, 80,000 foreign investors were expelled from Uganda and their investments constricted by the state and allocated to solders and concubines. We all know what happened to these investments.
Dictator Amin claimed the investors had failed to integrate local communities and acused them of milking the Ugandan economy dry.
This unorthodox, archaic and reckless decision brought the Ugandan economy on its knees as other investors left the country while new foregn investors kept off Uganda until years later when the dictator was overthrown by Tanzanian Defence forces.
Unfortunately, 54 years later, Kenya’s new dictator Ruto has caused panic among foreign investors by closing down investments and ordering investors who have been in the country for over a hundred years to close down their investments and leave the country.
Indian investors have looked for me sharing their plight.
Over 400 Indian Bussinessmen have shut down their investments after Mr. William Ruto and his tribal cronies demanded shares from these investors.
Properties owned by Indian families who leases are expiring are being taken over by William Ruto with the help of PS for Lands Mr. Nixon Korir.
Mr. William Ruto has gone rogue and he is on an historic high looting spree after intelligence reports presented to him confirmed that he will be voted out of office next year on 10th August 2027.
Tata Chemicals have been targeted after refusing to pay a bribe of Kshs 9 Billion or surrender 40% shares to Mr. William Ruto.
As we speak, Kenya is facing an economic crisis of unprecedented magnitude; foreign investors are now in panic while new investors are afraid on investing in Kenya.
I am in the United States of America where investors have categorically told me that no investor can risk investing in Kenya with what is going on in the country.
On behalf of our Kenyan people I appeal to the International community to reign on Mr. William Ruto; he must be stopped from taking over foreign investments and assure investors that their investments are safe.
Kenya is not Mr. William Ruto’s personal property or his animal farm. Kenya exists in the community of Nations.
