Disgusting. This is what our enemies have done. My interpreter was beheaded on camera by AQI and the video was distributed on CD's across Mosul. Death is not spectacle in a decent country. Hegseth is a psychopath and must be removed.

One day we will look back on this period in American history not just in severe embarrassment but with complete incomprehension. How did this happen? How did Idiocracy become real life in the richest, and one of the most educated, societies in human history?

Another strike on a Russian oil refinery in Omsk – one of the major refineries – as well as on the Ukhta oil refinery, 1,900 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border. The target in Ukhta was hit by An-196 RS drones, which can fly about 2,500 kilometers, while FP-6 drones (modified FP-1s) were used against the Omsk refinery the day before. We continue to respond to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, and we’re doing so with high precision. Another data center was hit as well – our symmetrical response. An important display of accuracy by our warriors. Glory to Ukraine!

Absolute disgrace to the United States and human decency. We will be giving russia their blood money to fund their war machine as they continue slaughtering Ukrainian civilians in their homes.
Trump: I think you heard about The oil deal with Russia. This is a big deal. That’s massive amounts of oil coming into our country. I want to thank President Putin, to be honest with you.

What?!?!?! The US punishes India for importing fuel from Russia and threatens 100% tariffs on other countries that do so. And then Trump blithely announces the US is doing the same?
The United States is now importing fuel from Russia, per President Trump.

If even these seven seconds are too painful, you can scroll past. But please understand — I have deliberately NOT shown you what we saw. She was around 30 years old and completely blind in both eyes. Her owner had discarded her when she was no longer useful. Somehow, while wandering blind, she fell into a filthy black drain with hard cement edges. And somehow, she got herself back out. I don't know how long she struggled in there. I don't know how much it hurt. She had also been attacked by dogs. Her body carried deep cuts and bite wounds. Her knees were badly swollen. Her lip was torn. She was starving and exhausted. When our team reached her, her nose and body were cold and her temperature was dangerously low. She was almost lifeless. We tried. But we couldn't save her. I have more than two minutes of footage. I won't show it. Seven seconds are enough. But a few hundred likes, a few dozen shares and a handful of comments are not enough to change the lives of working donkeys. We can close a video because it hurts us to watch. They cannot escape the life they are living. I have called her Hope. Please don't let Hope's story end with seven seconds. SHARE it. Let it travel beyond our little circle. Let it reach the person who can help us replace another donkey cart with a motorised cart and give the next donkey a Second Chance. tawf.org.uk/donate We couldn't save Hope. But together, perhaps we can save the next one. 💔🐴

President Zelenskyy’s disappointment in the US making a “deal” for Russian diesel is palpable and justified. The US move will not shorten the war; it will prolong it. The short term “gain” will do little to alleviate diesel prices in the US. Bad policy detrimental to long term US geopolitical interests.
Peace never comes through weakness. Today, representatives of the U.S. Congress were in Kyiv – a bipartisan delegation – and I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: what is needed to end the war? The answer must be strong. There must be sanctions under the Lindsey Graham bill, there must be support for Ukraine in protecting lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for its war. And today, there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads to something different. Recently, there was a European decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Since then, Russian strikes and the torment of people have only increased. This past week alone, there was a brutal Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, aerial bombs were dropped on Kramatorsk – on ordinary city buses – and there have been constant attacks on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and on the life-sustaining infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and our other cities. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded. The Russians are compensating for their inability to achieve their objectives on the battlefield with this kind of terror. This year, Russia is weaker on the battlefield than at any other point in the war. That is why Putin is relying on terror. That is why he is relying on attempts to strike backroom deals to secure some form of pressure relief for Russia, in order to buy more time and more opportunities for war. Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia’s hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world. Ukraine is ready to take symmetrical de-escalatory steps, and the American team knows our position. Our strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil facilities are a response to Russia’s years-long campaign of terror against Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukraine will not set Russian oil refineries on fire if Russia does not destroy our energy infrastructure. This is the kind of agreement we are proposing to America, and we believe the United States has enough power to achieve such a compromise. Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis. We count on America’s fair support for our defense of life, for our defense of people in Ukraine – and on the United States having a correspondingly strong conversation with Russia. A strong one, not a weak one.

There is a flower called prairie smoke (Geum triflorum). In spring it hangs its head in a soft pink bell. After it is pollinated, that flower lifts and the styles stretch into long, feathery plumes, the pink whiskers in this photo. Those plumes are the plant’s way of moving on. Each one stays attached to a seed, catches the wind, and carries it away from the parent. A whole patch of them looks like smoke drifting over the prairie, which is how the plant got its name.
