"You had me at 3 pounds."
The priciest MacBook Pro in history features a dedicated light source solely to illuminate the rear Apple logo.
Old-school MacBooks got the glow for free as a side effect of the LCD screen backlight. With the move to OLED, Apple had to spend extra hardware to bring back a feature they killed a decade ago.
Ultimately, you don't get to see the glowing logo while working—it's strictly a flex for everyone else at the café.

Fair enough, “tokens consumed by a vibe-graphic designer that needs to get out more”.

Re: a seven year old iPhone.
Inaccurate or unavailable on iPhone 11 / 11 Pro:
• Siri AI memory / recall of past conversations
• Expanded Siri context (Messages photos, Calendar attendees, Voicemails, improved Safari/Reading List)
• Excluded Apps setting for Siri AI
• Siri AI in 5 new languages (French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish)
• Granular selection/copy of part of a Siri AI response
• SynthID watermark on Extend, Reframe, or large Clean Up edits (those AI tools require 15 Pro+)
All of the above are gated to iPhone 15 Pro or later. The post notes the hardware requirement in places, but the framing still presents them as settings to change on the phone.
A guy has paid $1,100 for his iPhone and has installed every single update for 7 years.
Last Monday, a notification popped up: iOS 27.2. He tapped “Update Now,” watched the progress bar crawl, put the phone down, and went back to scrolling Instagram. That was his entire iOS 27.2 experience. Update installed. Nothing changed. Nothing explored. Nothing configured.
Two days later, at a family dinner, his cousin, a former Apple Genius Bar tech who spent 6 years fixing and configuring iPhones for a living, glanced at his screen and quietly said:
“You just installed the biggest update of the entire iOS 27 cycle, and you changed zero settings.”
“What do you mean?”
His cousin took the phone and started talking:
“Siri now remembers your past conversations, and you never checked which apps it’s allowed to read. Messages now suggests actions above your keyboard, and you never chose which ones stay on. Every photo you edit with Extend, Reframe, or a large Clean Up now carries a hidden AI watermark, and you had no idea. Your Apple TV app finally supports profiles, and your kid’s cartoons are still wrecking your recommendations. Your HomePod still starts playing every time your cat walks across the top of it. Your smart lock can alert you when the door is left open, and you’ve never turned it on. And you’re running a build that patches more than 160 security vulnerabilities, so for every day you waited, you left them open.”
He didn’t say a word.
“It’s not that the update is small. It’s that Apple ships the features but leaves every switch on default. Nobody tells you where the switches are.”
He took the phone back, opened Settings, and changed 9 things in 10 minutes.
His reaction: “It feels like I just bought a new phone.”
His cousin’s answer: “You didn’t buy anything. You’ve been using your iPhone through a keyhole. iOS 27.2 just handed you the door.”
Here’s every iOS 27.2 feature and setting worth changing, in the exact order he did it 🧵
Social Media and its "recommended for you" is a digital wasteland that is made worse by "AI influencers".

Context. Jobs made statements appropriate for the times.
When iPad was released vast majority of tablets being shipped were ~7” and iPad ended up dominating the ~10 market while others trailed Apple’s lead.
iTunes/iPod could never have been a good experience on PC’s as originally FireWire was a speed advantage and practically exclusive to Mac. It was not until USB 2.0 became common on PC’s (and Mac’s) that iTunes/iPod on Windows would have make sense and have impact.
Etc.
wait what?!!
g: Is the OLED version of the MacBook Pro glowing logo powered by an separate and additional LED?!!
Yes. The 2026 MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR (tandem OLED) has a glowing Apple logo powered by its own dedicated light source, not by the display. Older illuminated logos used light from the LCD backlight shining through a cutout in the lid. OLED has no backlight, so Apple added a separate lighting system for the logo. The thinner display stack left enough space for it. Logo brightness tracks screen brightness and can be fully off when the display is dimmed to minimum. Apple has not published exact details on the LEDs or circuit, but it is a distinct, additional illumination path.
...Classic illuminated logos used a cutout filled with translucent plastic, lit by the LCD backlight. The 2026 PROLED XDR models keep a cutout so light can exit the lid. Because the tandem OLED has no backlight, a separate dedicated light source sits behind the cutout. When the light is off, the logo appears as polished metal rather than the old white/gray plastic look.

Think of it as a new “low plateau” following the absence of a petulant Ives and uninspired design leadership of Cook.
Once Ternus gets past the low sales goofy-goggle Vision Pro, the tabletop drilled HomeView and the new Gorilla Arm MacBook Pro of his predecessor, Apple will have many great products to come.

of Note: Telesat has contracted SpaceX to launch its Lightspeed satellites on Falcon 9 rockets. Multiple sources confirm this, including statements that SpaceX will handle a significant portion (or the majority) of the constellation’s deployment, making Telesat one of SpaceX’s largest commercial customers after the U.S. government.

Don’t be pedantic (with a lowercase “p”).
By the way… “Kelvin” is capitalized only for the scale (“Kelvin scale”).
The unit name is kelvin (lowercase), not Kelvin.
As in 10 kelvin or 10 K

There aren't any "degrees" of Kelvin, it's an absolute unit, it is 10 Kelvin, not 10 degrees Kelvin.

g: “Degrees Kelvin” (or “degree Kelvin,” symbol °K) was the standard, official, and common terminology for decades. bipm.org
Key history
• In 1954, the 10th CGPM defined the thermodynamic temperature scale and set the triple point of water at exactly 273.16 degrees Kelvin.
• From then until 1967/68, the official SI name and symbol were “degree Kelvin” (°K). It was also widely used unofficially for much longer before that (often interchangeably with “degrees absolute”).
• In 1980, the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) approved a request from the Consultative Committee for Units that the symbols “°K” and “deg,” along with the term “degree Kelvin,” no longer be permitted.

g: Neural nets process via multi-stage layers and distributed multi-input weights. A flip dilutes across vast parameters and pathways. In multi-trillion-parameter models, a few random flips typically change output negligibly due to overparameterization and approximation; only rare high-impact bits (e.g. float exponents) matter more, yet still scale poorly against model size.
