capcom started using the "hide behind something to not die" mechanic due to the mhw ffxiv crossover (it's behemoth's mechanic) and now they're adding it to everything. The result of this is that now there is a mechanic in dragon's dogma 2 whose legacy can be traced back to ffxiv

this is an incredibly effective way to understand the difference between a "form shadow" and "cast shadow". many (east) asian artists will hyper-differentiate between the two and assign large hue variations to get a blend of cold/warm within the SAME value grouping.
