My thoughts on the U.S. midterms as a Canadian political journalist and columnist who travelled to America multiple times to cover the campaign: 1. The results are terrible for Trump and the Republicans. There is no way to sugarcoat it or spin it. 2. Despite the setback, Donald Trump does remain the most successful national conservative leader of the past decade. He led a successful populist conservative movement to victory in 2016, held on to the Senate in 2018, and made an incredible comeback in 2024, winning the popular vote. 3. One of the things that got Trump elected and re-elected was the economy. Yet when he took office, he put in place a tariff agenda that raised costs for Americans, and then launched a war in Iran that further raised prices. And his response was to dismiss those concerns as a “hoax.” That did not help. According to exit polls, 39% of voters named the economy as the most important issue facing the country, and cost of living was a crucial or major factor for 89% of voters. Three in four rated the national economy as not so good or poor, and roughly two-thirds said Trump’s policies made economic conditions worse. On tariffs specifically, 66% said they hurt the national economy, while only 21% said they helped. 4. The promise of no new wars. I touched on this a bit in the previous point, but starting a war before the midterms was a mistake. It was bound to get messy and raise prices. And it runs counter to the very popular message of no new wars that Trump had run on, and that he had maintained during his first term, when he did not launch new wars but instead made many historic, Nobel Peace Prize–worthy deals. According to exit polls, 74 percent of voters said the Iran war was a crucial or major factor in their vote, and 63 percent said the U.S. made the wrong decision in taking military action against Iran. 5. Then there’s ethics and corruption. One of the things that made me gain huge amounts of respect for Trump early on was his message: I am a rich man, no one can buy me, and I won’t take a salary. His net worth decreased during his first term. He endured that loss as a sacrifice for serving his country. But this time: Trump and his family launched and promoted multiple cryptocurrency ventures that generated over $1.4 billion in income during his first year back in office, while his family has also flown around the world making $$$$. This does not mean that Democrats aren’t also corrupt, they very much are, but what has happened in Trump 2.0 is different from Trump 1.0. On Election Day, government corruption was a crucial or major factor for 90% of voters, with 55% calling it crucial. And 62% of voters said Trump prioritizes his own personal interests over the country’s. 6. Trump has a bombastic personality, and sometimes he has taken it too far. During Trump 1.0, I remember many Trump supporters saying they loved the guy but wished he would tone down some of the rhetoric. Personally, I like the bombastic Trump, but it is clear that many people are looking for a tamer president. 7. Donald Trump had some wins in the first half of his second term: closing the border, ending wokeness, DOGE, and passing no taxes on tips into law, to name a few. But the negatives began to outweigh those wins. 8. Woke is still unpopular. While woke politicians like James Talarico did win, there were several ballot measures that rejected wokeness. For example, voters in Arizona, Nebraska, Colorado and Washington all passed measures keeping men out of women’s sports. 9. The Democratic Party is an evil entity. They proudly support the murder of innocent babies, they are for higher taxes and regulation, and now also for socialism and Islamism. They are the party of contempt, anger and hate, and their policies will not make life better for Americans. Americans did not vote for Democrats; rather, they voted against Trump. 10. The focus must now be on 2028, and Republicans should elect someone with a track record of winning elections. Many are seeing Ron DeSantis as a strong contender.

🇺🇸 The Shift in Power: Why Trump is Free to Act and How Marco Rubio Wins Big Do not assume that the recent electoral defeat leaves Trump paralyzed. The opposite is likely true. Trump has not been stripped of power; paradoxically, he now has complete freedom of action. Up until now, the elections acted as a brake on aggressive decisions in places like Iran, Cuba, Mexico, etc. Taking massive action earlier would have burned valuable cartridges that can now be better utilized over the next two years. Consider Cuba. While some argue Trump should have crushed the Cuban regime before the midterms, doing so likely would not have changed the outcome against a wide Democratic victory. However, that cartridge still remains available, and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, is perfectly positioned to use it. Despite the national Republican defeat, Rubio emerged as the big winner heading into the 2028 presidential race because Republicans held Florida. Meanwhile, Ohio was lost, leaving JD Vance and Vivek Ramaswamy as the election's big losers. If Cuba falls over the next two years, Rubio will capitalize on the victory, capturing the Latino vote and presenting himself as a proper, measured career politician - everything Trump never cared to be. While Trump, the disruptor, is damaged, Rubio the professional is strengthened. Setbacks like this are normal; Clinton lost both chambers in 1994 and still won reelection in 1996. Furthermore, the Democrats will face a period of political paralysis. Trump retains veto power to block attempts to reverse his policies, while Congress will freeze his domestic agenda. This domestic gridlock suits Trump, whose true focus is now foreign policy, an area where Congress has limited interference. Trump aims to leave an irreversible global landscape by 2028 - one without the current regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, or Iran, and a weakened woke Europe. As of this Wednesday, Trump no longer has to worry about reelection, public opinion, or even domestic inflation. Trump has nothing left to lose and faces no political constraints. Expect a far more aggressive foreign policy focused purely on his legacy, with Marco Rubio poised to reap the long-term rewards. How will the Democratic Congress respond if Trump completely bypasses domestic policy to aggressively reshape the global order? Can Marco Rubio successfully unite the traditional establishment and the populist base to secure the nomination for 2028? #USPolitics #ForeignPolicy #Trump #MarcoRubio #Elections2028

🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: JD Vance says the Iran war cost Republicans the midterm elections! He just put out a long tweet about the thrashing Republicans took last night, and according to him, the problem wasn't that Republican voters stayed home. They actually showed up in strong numbers, but many who backed Trump and Vance in 2024 ended up voting for Democrats. Vance says his team had spotted something strange before the election. Turnout looked good, but one of his analysts warned that plenty of those voters were angry enough to switch sides. And a pollster later found out what was driving that anger. When former Trump voters were asked what would bring them back, four answers stood out: 1. End the war 2. Bring down inflation and living costs 3. Put America First 4. Change America's relationship with Israel That's a pretty striking list coming from voters who helped put Trump back in the White House just two years ago. Vance admitted Republicans could have done a better job talking about the economy, but he says the war was the real reason they lost. He even pointed out that Trump himself had said so. And he pushed back at Republicans offering immigration amnesty as the solution, warning that anyone selling that idea was lying. He also had a message for voters who had warned Republicans this would happen: "You're right, you did tell us so." Vance is openly acknowledging that many of Trump's own voters turned against Republicans over the war, inflation, and foreign policy. HUGE!!! Source: @JDVance / Writer: Daniyal

Translation: In the United States, no sitting president ever wins the midterm elections. Barack Obama lost them, Joe Biden lost them, etc. But you'll see that tonight, in our media, they'll make a huge fuss about it: they'll present the Republicans' defeat as a massive repudiation of Donald Trump, a crushing failure, and blah blah blah… If it had been a president from the Democratic camp, our media would have settled for a little news brief. Here, they'll switch to special coverage and, since it's Donald Trump, they'll turn it into a stinging defeat, even though it's par for the course in American political and democratic life.

What if last night was the best thing that could have happened to us? I know how that sounds. Democrats just took the House and the Senate. Texas went blue. Everyone on our side is depressed this morning. But step back and look at the longer game, because I think we might be living through the beginning of a renaissance. History has a pattern. When a party wins big, it confuses a protest vote with a mandate. And that's exactly where it starts making mistakes. 1994: Republicans sweep Congress. They overplay their hand, shut down the government, and hand Clinton a comfortable reelection two years later. 1998: they push impeachment against public opinion and lose seats in a midterm they should have won. Victory breeds arrogance. Arrogance breeds overreach. Overreach breeds backlash. Now look at what Democrats are walking into. They control Congress, but not the White House. They can't really govern. They can block, investigate, subpoena, and posture. For two years, their entire identity will be opposition. Endless hearings. Impeachment fantasies. Shutdown brinkmanship. Purity tests from their activist wing, emboldened by a win they'll believe was ideological when it was mostly a midterm reflex. And every one of those moves will be on full display, in front of voters who just gave them a chance and will expect results. That's the setup for 2028. Not a narrow win. A clean one. White House, House, Senate. Full power, with a clear mandate and two years of Democratic overreach as the backdrop. And this time, full power has to mean something different. Not just holding office. Building. What I believe we need is a techno-republic. A state that runs like the best companies do: fast, measurable, accountable. Where public services are rebuilt from first principles with the best technology available. Where talent and merit matter more than credentials and connections. Where we stop managing decline and start building again: energy, industry, infrastructure, AI, space. Because the stakes are civilizational. The West has spent decades losing confidence in itself. Its institutions hollowed out, its elites ashamed of its own history, its universities captured by an alliance between the radical left and political Islamism that sees Western values as something to dismantle rather than defend. Free speech, secularism, equality before the law, the idea that a civilization has the right to exist and to defend itself. None of that survives on autopilot. A techno-republic is how we rebuild that foundation. Not through nostalgia, but through competence. Prove that a free, confident, technologically ambitious West works better than any alternative, and the debate is over. So yes, last night hurt. But maybe this is the detour that gets us there faster. Let them win this round. Let them show the country who they really are. And be ready. The renaissance won't come from comfort. It'll come from the moment we stopped being comfortable.
Today, I'm sad. For Texas, for this blue wave. But if Elon taught us anything, it's that losing a round means nothing. Here's why I'm not worried. Texas sending a Democrat to the Senate for the first time in decades. The Senate and the House flipping. No point lying to ourselves: this is a real defeat. But a defeat is not the end. They won a battle. We haven't lost the war. Politics moves in cycles. Midterms almost always punish the party in power. What matters isn't one election night, it's the trajectory over ten, twenty, thirty years. So look at the situation as it is. No denial, no panic. Understand what didn't work, what needs to change, and move forward. The only real danger today isn't the result. It's losing your optimism. Discouragement does more damage than any electoral loss ever could. Look at Elon. Every time the world declared him finished, he came back stronger. Rockets exploded, companies nearly went under, everyone bet against him. I have zero doubt he's the one who wins in the end. As Corneille wrote: "To conquer without risk is to triumph without glory." If victory were easy, it wouldn't mean anything. Keep your spirits up. Keep playing. Keep fighting on every front: ideas, culture, tech, the ground game. Stay focused on victory. It won't come overnight. It will take time to build. But it will last, and it will be beautiful. We get back up. We keep going.

A Pakistani boy once told the Muslim Women's Network that his community "shares" girls: “My mate called me and said ‘Bro I have a surprise for you, come over to this house.’ When I got there 15 of them were sitting in the living room. My mate told me to go upstairs for my surprise. "When I went into the bedroom, another friend was doing this girl. The lads went up one by one and took turns and while they were waiting they were calling their mates, cousins and uncles to come over and join in and showing off. "Others turned up too including two older men who were taxi drivers, who went straight upstairs. One older man said I am going to call my son over so he can practice on her and later his 15-year-old son arrived in his uniform. "Everyone took turns and it took 6 hours. I did get concerned and said, ‘the girl is going to get broke, who will marry her?” The girl is not paid but she gets looked after, she is given food and the boys make sure she gets home safely if it gets late. "There are set days Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but some of my friends don’t like doing stuff like that on a Friday because it is Juma (holy day) and they go mosque.” Pimping a girl out to your cousins and children is the norm in Pakistani communities in Britain. You do not understand these people. We cannot share a country with them. They all have to go.

🚨 BEFORE DEMOCRATS GET ANY BIG IDEAS… REMEMBER THIS 🚨 🔥 JUST NOW on Fox: President Trump drops the hammer on a Democrat-controlled House & Senate after the midterms. They can send over all the INSANE, radical, America-last bills they want. TRUMP HAS THE VETO PEN. NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT HIS SAY-SO. “They’ll send over things that are INSANE and I’ll veto them.” “After a couple of months of vetoes, they’ll call and they’ll say, ‘how do we get this stuff done?’ And we’ll work together.” Democrats just took the House and Senate. They think they have a free pass to ram through open borders, higher taxes, more spending, and every extreme priority on their list. WRONG. One man. One pen. One veto. Trump is ready to be “Mr. Veto.” He has the ultimate power. He will use it. Hard. Relentlessly. No big ideas. No bad laws. No radical agenda gets through without him. They need his signature. They won’t get it. 🇺🇸 VETO POWER IS REAL. AMERICA FIRST STILL WINS. 🇺🇸 Share this. Remind them.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL: Governments Are Pushing 72-Hour Self-Sufficiency - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!! Governments across the West and beyond are suddenly pushing the same message: prepare to survive at least 72 hours without power, water, or outside help. Canada, the UK (“Be Ready”), France, Japan, and Europe’s Preparedness Union Strategy are all amplifying household self-sufficiency campaigns at the same time, often framed around cyberattacks, geopolitical tension, and cascading disasters. This isn’t old advice recycled. It’s a coordinated, high-volume push. While practical preparedness (food, water, go-bags, skills, and local mutual aid) has always made sense, the synchronized timing raises questions. These campaigns can later serve as a ready-made excuse if systems fail longer than expected, shift blame onto individuals, normalize disrupted normalcy, and condition people to wait for the next official instructions. The same institutions whose policies increased fragility are now telling the public to get ready. In this video Dan Dicks of Press For Truth breaks down the messaging, the practical steps worth taking quietly, and why the ultimate form of preparation doesn’t depend on supply chains or governments! Please SHARE THIS VIDEO FAR AND WIDE because it contains information that EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAR!!

🚨🇺🇸 Trump says he wants to work with Democrats, but the balance of power has changed after the GOP losses. In an election-night call, he congratulated Democrats and said he wanted to work for the good of the country. But he also reminded them he has veto power and suggested they’d rather negotiate than face constant vetoes. He also blamed some Republican losses on candidates who weren’t his allies and voters who stayed home. The message is cooperation, but the terms may look very different after a loss. Se cade Trump, possa piacere o no, cade l'America come ultimo baluardo dell'Occidente libero. 2. WOKISMO COME RELIGIONE DI STATO Non è inclusione. ✒️Sabrina F.

One path to victory in 2028 is a DeSantis/Rubio or Rubio/DeSantis ticket. Ron DeSantis is incredibly Conservative and anyone who has been blessed to live in Florida will tell you how popular he and his governing style is. Marco Rubio is well known for being incredibly talented and a master of multi-tasking. He is a generational talent. America would be lucky to have this ticket.

It's embarrassing watching Americans who think they won but have just broken their government to spite one man. Shallow thinking at its finest. What these midterms simply mean is that the people who hate borders are back in Washington. The people who sympathize with terrorists and jihadists are back. Every anti-American who wishes death on America is having a wild celebration today. This is not a Donald Trump loss; it is a catastrophic loss for the USA. Uninformed people are a crazy, shallow-minded bunch. Trump Derangement Syndrome is so clear. They are celebrating, but none of them can actually comprehend what Trump wanted to achieve for the USA. It is understandable for Islamists and foreign enemies who hate America to cheer this on, but it is pure foolishness for Americans. Trump is the lifeline of the USA. Trump remains President, but he is walking into a complete trap with a hostile Congress. He cannot pass a single law or bill because the opposition will block everything out of pure spite. His hands are tied on appointing judges and cabinet officials because the Senate will block his picks, and he won't be able to close big foreign trade deals or secure funding because he needs their approval for everything. An electorate voted to paralyze its own country just to stick it to one guy. Peak emotional instability.
