Current @RememberThisPod season on Libby Holman includes appearances from Billie Holiday, Jane Bowles, Tallulah Bankhead, Josh White, Montgomery Clift and Alan Lomax among others. What’s not to love

I've come to the conclusion that Nathan Fielder pulled the most powerful punches available to him as an interogator, in order to invent a situation with maximal moral ambiguity.

I take full credit for identifying this new type of distich by Anne Carson (headless iambic pentameter / spondee) and for naming it the Carsonic! Here’s my Hollanderesque definition: The Carsonic It’s a way to register surprise. Big news.
See if you can echo Anne Carson's meter & other sonic effects. Here's mine: 28 October Yesterday I had my big toe lanced. Oh wow.

Sinking into The Ground Above again. Another contender for Album Of The Year. This was my entryway to Beth Orton, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Musically and lyrically on the other side of so much of what came before, yet no less magical. There's so much beauty in the bleakness.

BILLY BANG FOREVER
Pretty sure Theo Parrish dropped this at the White Hotel last week around 5am. First time hearing it in about 10 years. I love Billy Bang - everyone should listen to Billy Bang. youtube.com/watch?app=deskto…

This is even better than Dylan’s sparknotes-cribbed Nobel acceptance lecture
-What have we got for November? -Well Anne Carson has given us her first poem written since she won the Nobel -Really?! That’s amazing. That will fly -Well yes but…you see it’s…it’s…it’s not her most *ambitious* piece

So I recently badgered my cinematographer @steveyedlin into making my ideal iPhone still camera app. It shoots RAW, bypasses the iPhone's look processing and instead uses the same image processing we use on our movies. apps.apple.com/app/apple-sto…

Okay, so here's the thing. If you didn't read Bad Blood or the early WSJ reporting about Holmes (which I did, obsessively, because I am obsessed with scammers) you had a completely different experience of this movie. You *cannot* have engaged with that media, and then
Okay, I saw You Can See Everything. And I'm about 95 percent convinced Elizabeth Holmes picks unpleasant, awful men to be her partners because she looks better and slightly victimized by comparison. Because I'm sorry - she's just *awful.*

The Night Of
Besides THE WIRE, THE SOPRANOS and GAME OF THRONES, what’s one HBO series everyone needs to watch at least once? Looking for those underrated gems and all-time greats that deserve to be in the conversation.

I loved You Can See Everything. But if your takeaway is sympathy for Holmes, please read Bad Blood by @JohnCarreyrou

RIP Donal Lunny, giant of Irish music. There are a million incredible bands and records he has been part of. Two slightly deeper cuts that I would highlight are two masterpieces with his brilliant production: Connachtman's Rambles by Mairtin O'Connor, and In Full Spate by Paddy Glackin

Replying to @wordsandsounds
The one of his I go back to the most often. Having been very into Aaron Copland's music for long helps and the cover of Madonna's "Live To Tell" is simply brilliant.
