We're hiring interns at Kantipur Media Group as part of a new program that brings in young journalists, trains them, and builds a path to full-time roles across its various verticals and platforms. I got my start in a Nepali newsroom (not Kathmandu Post, they wouldn't take me!) that let me try things I wasn't yet qualified to do. That's what we're offering here. We're taking on *five* reporting interns who will report and write (primarily in Nepali) across business, politics, arts & entertainment, and society beats. What we're looking for is curiosity that doesn't switch off, and the willingness to be edited hard. The internship is open to anyone, but we will prioritize women candidates. If you've been waiting to write a story but haven't had someone to guide you, or editors to work with, this is it. Interns will be paid Rs. 10,000/month. We have more than 100 journalists from Kathmandu Post, Kantipur Daily, and Kantipur TV entirely focused on covering the devastating floods and their impact in Nepal. Reporters who left Kathmandu 72 hours ago and hiked on foot to reach settlements that are hardest hit. A team of breaking news reporters working round the clock. Editors synthesizing information from dozens of districts to build a coherent, accurate picture as it changes hour by hour. Photographers and camera crews documenting loss that words alone can't capture. Some of our own journalists have been personally affected — reporting on their neighbors, their districts, sometimes their own families, while doing their jobs. This is what it takes to cover a disaster like this responsibly: people on the ground, verifying, asking hard questions, and staying long after the story stops trending.
