"Creating multiple pathways to meet a dissertation’s core learning objectives and outcomes is not easy work for departments, but it is necessary work."
@ProfWalsh2003's post on "Reforming the History Dissertation" is up today.

Hey @cityoftoronto folks- The @EastYork_TO bike lanes along Danforth have been there for >2yrs. Your “I didn’t know it was there” excuse no longer applies. You have the ability to learn &adapt you’ve even done it in the last 2yrs.
Bike lanes are not dangerous to you in your car
Jaywalking across three lanes of traffic and then not checking the last lane of traffic (bike lane) is a dangerous behaviour. Period. So is stepping out into any lane of traffic without looking.
That choice doesn’t make the bike lane more dangerous than the car lanes.

I learned so much from my fellow committee members working on this report - we have a lot of recommendations for how to improve the PhD experience. @LooTina @samhossack cha-shc.ca/_uploads/633ee467…
.@blogTO are you sure "a dumpster fire of traffic" is how you want to report on a fundraiser for women's mental health??
Surely, opening roads to activities that raise $ & awareness for causes like cancer & mental health can be reported in a less incendiary way...

I spent January actively defending my weekends, refusing to give in to the urge to "just do that one bit of work". It was great for my mental wellness.
Now I'm ~4 days behind on work.
Which is less great for my mental wellness. Not sure what to do about my Feb weekends...
Normally, I would spend the last week of Nov prepping for an early-Jan trip to the archives. Last year...well...
This year I'm not because traveling to YOW for possible & limited access is not feasible but still jeopardizes my work.

I've talked about access to archives before and how decisions to limit access to archives such as LAC restrict our ability to conduct research. This decision has enormous implications, esp for grad students/precarious researchers. Please consider signing the petition
Please sign and circulate this petition by the Graduate Student Committee to the House of Commons calling on the GoC to reverse LAC’s decision to limit access hours! petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/P…
