ai is good at finding vulnerabilities
it is also good at preventing them from shipping in the first place
Oh FFS. Thank you for your concern Sam, but don’t spread your FUD and doom bait in my waters.
I lead one of the most utilized Linux operating systems in the world for data centers and enterprises, and I founded its predecessor too.
While AI is surely accelerating finding human created security issues, it is a temporary problem, and most open source project leads have already figured out how to also use AI to reduce new bugs moving forward.
Here is a graph from GKH (who maintains the stable kernel) on how many CVEs they are remediating per release:

This graph describes how much better each release is now getting:

This doom based marketing approach that the AI labs are pushing is really short sighted. While this will of course drive business to us, I find it unethical to distort the truth and use scare tactics in messaging.
The greater truth is that AI is making the software industry more secure, by identifying the human errors in code, and soon we will end up in a much better place.
technically speaking is the perfect name for this pod
"In practice, it needs access to everything. But also nothing."
We thought access control was a solved problem, then agents showed up.
On ep 1 of Technically Speaking, @grinich (founder of @WorkOS) & @meganreyno discuss:
→ Why AI agents require rethinking Auth: "It's kind of like spawning new people in your organization very quickly."
→ What's stopping companies from letting agents cook (it's not the quality of models or harnesses): "To err is human, but to screw up 10,000 times per second you need a computer."
→ How Michael is hiring differently bc of AI

our vision at knock is customer engagement that runs itself
in a typical customer engagement system, you bring in data from your product, warehouse, and website. you build journeys and experiments that message users across channels. then you monitor the results
interpreting those results, deciding what to change, and making the changes is a full-time job. we’re building knock so agents can run that loop
part one was representing the entire knock data model—workflows, templates, audiences, data syncs—as code, so agents can reason about it efficiently
part two was branches. agents propose changes in isolated environments, and humans review them before anything ships
today we’re announcing part three: goals. you define a goal in knock, such as a free plan upgrading to paid, and an agent works towards it
here’s an example. the knock agent notices an email in your onboarding flow drives unsubs. the agent opens a branch with an a/b test of a new subject line and shorted copy. you review the proposal, approve it, and merge it into your live messaging
the agent has full context on your knock workspace, plus any data you connect. it opens branches with changes it expects will progress towards your goal, and you decide what ships
with goals we’re one step closer to customer engagement that runs itself
available today for all customers. try it and let us know what you think
an underrated perk of hiring great people is getting to see the side projects they build
our own @meryldakin threw a widow’s bay themed ‘mock wedding’ mystery party
a week later she chronicled it with this *amazing* site
it has its own os, case board, evidence file, and desktop skifree game

Introducing The Cheeky Pint Benchmark.
We made our intern watch every episode of Cheeky Pint to bring you this breakdown of pints drank by guests to the nearest sixth.
Congratulations to @elonmusk who is currently in the lead with three full pints of Guinness.
i am biased but this is one of the best footers of all time
new knock.app homepage just shipped
knock is customer engagement you build with agents, and we wanted our front door to reflect that
our goal was a site that feels agentic but demonstrates the human craft we believe wins
im so proud of the end result. our design team (ie @krisnasorathia) did a beautiful job bringing it to life
