VIDEO | Delhi: WHO Representative to India Dr Yvan J-F Hutin on pharmacovigilance, says, "I think what we are working on this week is strengthening pharmacovigilance, to connect with the rational use of medication so that, as the State Minister (Anupriya Patel) was saying, India can not only become the pharmacy of the world, but also a leader in patient safety and pharmacovigilance. I think that's the strategic direction of the Ministry, and the one that we're very happy to support as WHO." (Full video available on PTI Videos - ptivideos.com)

#India has made impressive public health progress: fewer children with zero-dose vaccine, sharp declines in maternal and child mortality and malaria, expanding universal health coverage, and 187,000+ Ayushman Arogya Mandirs delivering primary health care. But there is more to do: accelerate noncommunicable disease prevention and control, advance disease elimination, and further reduce out-of-pocket health spending. My great thanks to our @WHO India team for their dedication in supporting India’s journey towards #HealthForAll. #ProudToBeWHO

The four themes of the #BRICS Leaders' Summit are directly relevant to health, and progress on health can advance every one of them. Resilience: By strengthening primary health care, surveillance, early warning and local production. Innovation: By harnessing science, digital health and AI for public health, while making their benefits accessible to all. Cooperation: By acting across borders and sectors, including to finalise the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing annex to the @WHO Pandemic Agreement. Sustainability: By building sustainable health financing and a stronger, more coherent global health architecture. Therefore, here are my four asks to BRICS leaders: 1. Build resilience before the next emergency arrives. 2. Direct innovation towards the problems and places markets miss. 3. Make cooperation operational across borders and sectors. 4. Sustain what you have built through political commitment, implementation and accountability.

India has crossed a significant milestone of 80 lakh+ HPV vaccine doses administered under the National HPV Vaccination Campaign. I congratulate our dedicated health workers, frontline teams, healthcare professionals, States & UTs, and all those working tirelessly to make this campaign a success. Launched by PM Shri @narendramodi ji in February 2026, the campaign provides free, voluntary, single-dose HPV vaccination to 14-year-old girls, with parental consent. This achievement strengthens our resolve to advance preventive healthcare and protect future generations from cervical cancer. Let us ensure that no eligible girl is left behind.
