EXPOSING THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD'S NETWORK: WHAT MICHIGAN VOTERS NEED TO KNOW I want to thank Steven Emerson and the Investigative Project on Terrorism @TheIPT for the extensive work behind this six-part investigation: El-Sayed in the Brotherhood's Orbit The investigation examines Abdul El-Sayed's longstanding associations with organizations linked to the Muslim Brotherhood's network in the U.S. Drawing on declassified FBI records, internal Brotherhood documents, archived communications, and hundreds of hours of recordings, Emerson presents evidence that deserves serious public scrutiny. I'm particularly flagging this investigation for my friends in Michigan, but its implications go well beyond one state or one political candidate. We cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand when it comes to the Muslim Brotherhood's history, networks, and efforts to gain influence in American institutions. These are legitimate national security concerns, and political convenience should never take precedence over examining the evidence. The American people deserve to know who is seeking positions of power, what organizations they have been involved with, and what those relationships mean. I'll share all six installments below so you can examine the investigation for yourself. Full investigation: investigativeproject.org/946…

A Simple Guide to Getting Ready This is just practical stuff for people who want to be ready in case something big happens closer to home. The idea is to keep it straightforward so you and your family aren't caught flat-footed if things get chaotic. Focus on what you can control. Stay more aware when you're out in busy places. Crowds, events, travel spots, and everyday public areas can become targets. Notice people who seem out of place, groups acting oddly, bags left alone, or anyone in a uniform that doesn't quite make sense. If something feels wrong, create distance and move. Know where the exits are and keep your vehicle fueled enough that you can leave without stopping. Vary your routines a little so you're not completely predictable. If something starts, the priority is getting clear of the area as fast as you safely can. Have a basic idea of what you'd do if you had to hide or respond. Don't automatically trust every person in a uniform once things turn messy. If you see something suspicious beforehand, report it to local law enforcement. A false alarm is better than missing a real problem. Get a simple family plan in place while things are calm. Pick a couple of meeting spots, one near home and one farther away in case the immediate area is a problem. Decide how you'll check on each other if phones stop working. Keep printed contact lists somewhere easy to find. Talk through a few what-if situations so everyone knows the basics. With kids, keep the language simple and focused on having a plan rather than details. Put together a small bag for each person, including pets if you have them. Include identification, any needed medicine, some cash, water, snacks, a way to charge devices, a flashlight, and basic medical supplies along with items for serious bleeding. Keep one in the car and one at home. At the house, have at least a week's worth of food that doesn't need refrigeration, drinking water, extra medicine, and batteries. Know how to turn off the utilities if needed. Learn basic skills for stopping severe bleeding and handling trauma. A short class and a little practice with the people you'll actually be with makes a difference when help is delayed. Carrying a tourniquet is a low-effort habit that can matter. After an event, expect phones and power to be unreliable for a while and roads to be difficult. Having a couple of rally points and knowing which neighbors have useful skills or supplies speeds things up. Stay focused on your own plan and the people around you instead of trying to track every update. The goal is to be steady enough that you can look out for your household and help where you can once things settle. Do the basics now. It doesn't require turning your life upside down, and it puts you in a better position if the worst happens.
Stay vigilant, and use the time you have to prepare wisely. @alinazary, others, and I have taken enormous personal risks to bring these warnings to you. Please do not take them lightly.

THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD'S OWN BYLAWS: UNDERSTANDING THE ORGANIZATION'S OBJECTIVES For those working through Steven Emerson's extensive six-part investigation, El-Sayed in the Brotherhood's Orbit, published by the Investigative Project on Terrorism (@TheIPT), several readers have asked where they can find the Muslim Brotherhood's official bylaws. Here they are. These are not someone else's interpretation of the organization's objectives. The bylaws were previously published on the Muslim Brotherhood's own English-language website, Ikhwanweb. Article 2 describes the Brotherhood as an international organization and explicitly identifies establishing an Islamic state governed by Islamic principles among its objectives. The document also outlines the movement's religious, social, political, and organizational goals, providing important context for understanding its international structure and ambitions. There is another significant piece of history here. In February 2011, IPT reported that the Brotherhood's bylaws had disappeared from its English-language website amid the political upheaval in Egypt. The organization subsequently came to power under Mohamed Morsi. When examining any ideological movement, its founding documents, bylaws, organizational structure, and stated objectives should be part of the analysis. Public messaging should be examined alongside the organization's own written record. I encourage everyone following Emerson's investigation to read the original bylaws, particularly Article 2, rather than relying solely on public statements about what the Muslim Brotherhood represents. FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN TO BIN LADEN'S SUDAN: WHAT THE DOCUMENTS REVEAL Steven Emerson and the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) @TheIPT have uncovered another significant piece of the University of Michigan Muslim Students' Association's history, raising questions about the organization's connections to influential Islamist figures. In September 2005, the MSA newsletter Al-Risalah published an account by political chair Shimaa Abdel-Fadeel describing her visit to Sudan, including a dinner with Hassan al-Turabi. Who was Hassan al-Turabi, and why does this matter? Al-Turabi was a leading figure in Sudan's Islamist movement, a former secretary-general of Sudan's Muslim Brotherhood, and the leader of the National Islamic Front. He also played a central role in providing Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda with a sanctuary in Sudan. The 9/11 Commission Report documents that al-Turabi encouraged bin Laden to relocate his organization to Sudan, allowing the country to become a base for worldwide business operations and preparations for jihad. But the historical record goes further. A 1992 U.S. diplomatic cable documents al-Turabi urging Muslims to establish an "Islamic system" in their countries while rejecting what he described as Western attempts to impose a new world order. A 1994 U.S. diplomatic cable reports al-Turabi telling students that establishing an Islamic state required jihad. He described the Western coalition as a principal adversary and asserted that jihad frightened the West because of the weakness of Western civilization. Now consider what Emerson's investigation uncovered. Abdel-Fadeel subsequently served on the University of Michigan MSA board alongside vice president Abdul El-Sayed. Her published account described meeting the same Islamist leader who helped provide bin Laden and al-Qaeda with the sanctuary from which they expanded their terrorist operations. This is a normalization of al-Qaeda that was never pushed back on in real-time, and it raises serious questions about how the MSA leadership viewed al-Turabi and his role in facilitating al-Qaeda's presence in Sudan. This Sunday, November 1st, I'll have @John_Rossomando on @The_Watch_Floor to further discuss the Muslim Brotherhood in America, its organizational networks, historical connections, and the national security implications. Understanding these networks requires following the evidence, examining the documents, and asking difficult questions about the relationships they reveal. IN HIS OWN WORDS: EL-SAYED'S 2006 WRITINGS AND THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD'S IDEOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK One of the most revealing documents uncovered in Steven Emerson's investigation is Abdul El-Sayed's March 2006 essay, Regional Unity, published in the University of Michigan Muslim Students' Association newsletter, Al-Risalah. El-Sayed called for "harder-impact Da'wa" and described metro Detroit as "the point of nucleation for global unification." This deserves far more scrutiny than it has received. The language of religious outreach, organizational consolidation, and global Muslim unity overlaps with concepts found in the Muslim Brotherhood's historical strategy for building influence through institutions and communities. These are not insignificant similarities, particularly when considered alongside the FBI's historical assessment of the MSA and the Brotherhood's own organizational documents. The question is not simply what El-Sayed wrote in 2006. It is how those ideas relate to the organizations he participated in, the ideology they promoted, and the positions he holds today. Steven Emerson deserves credit for recovering these records and putting them before the public. Read the original material and examine those connections for yourself. THE MOHAMED SOLTAN CONNECTION: ABDUL EL-SAYED AND THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD IN EGYPT Steven Emerson's six-part investigation for the Investigative Project on Terrorism uncovers another connection in Abdul El-Sayed's public record that deserves attention. In October 2021, El-Sayed used his Substack newsletter, The Incision, to advocate for Mohamed Soltan, whom he described as his "friend." Soltan, an American citizen, had been imprisoned in Egypt on charges that included membership in the Muslim Brotherhood. His father, Salah Soltan, has been identified in reporting cited by Emerson as a senior Muslim Brotherhood figure. El-Sayed subsequently made his newsletter private. The significance of this episode extends beyond a single relationship. Emerson's investigation also documents El-Sayed's earlier writings about the Muslim Brotherhood's political role in Egypt and a 2012 statement bearing his name that supported Mohamed Morsi's controversial constitutional decree. Taken together, these records raise specific questions about El-Sayed's historical views of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, his relationships with individuals associated with the movement, and how those views have evolved. These are documented episodes that warrant direct answers, not vague dismissals. Read Steven Emerson's investigation, Part 1: investigativeproject.org/946…

EGYPT, THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD, AND ABDUL EL-SAYED'S 2011 ASSESSMENT In January 2011, as protests swept Egypt, Abdul El-Sayed published an essay dismissing concerns that Muslim Brotherhood rule could resemble Hamas's governance in Gaza. He called that comparison "foolish." Steven Emerson revisits those statements in Part 6 of his investigation for the Investigative Project on Terrorism. The Brotherhood subsequently came to power. In November 2012, President Mohamed Morsi issued a decree placing presidential decisions beyond judicial review, provoking widespread protests. The historical record provides a way to examine El-Sayed's original arguments, the events that followed, and his current position on the Brotherhood are all relevant to understanding the record. AL-QAEDA DID NOT ATTACK AMERICA ON 9/11 SIMPLY BECAUSE OF GRIEVANCES In Part 6 of his investigation for the Investigative Project on Terrorism, Steven Emerson examines Abdul El-Sayed's September 2021 writings about the September 11 terrorist attacks. El-Sayed argued that the hijackers exploited Islam as a pretext for violence rooted in what he called "tribalistic grievance." That characterization leaves out a central part of al-Qaeda's history: its ideology. Al-Qaeda was not simply a collection of individuals reacting to American foreign policy. It was an organized terrorist movement with a defined jihadist ideology, religious justifications for violence, strategic objectives, and a leadership structure that deliberately planned the mass murder of civilians. Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri repeatedly articulated those objectives. Their ideology was not incidental to their operations. It helped shape their targeting, recruitment, propaganda, and strategic ambitions. Understanding the September 11 attacks requires examining both al-Qaeda's stated political grievances and the extremist ideology through which its leaders justified mass-casualty terrorism. Grievances alone do not explain why al-Qaeda deliberately murdered nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001. Its ideology and operational objectives cannot be written out of that history. Emerson documents El-Sayed's statements and examines them in the context of his broader writings on terrorism. Read Part 6: investigativeproject.org/946…

THE IRGC QUESTION ABDUL EL-SAYED DID NOT DIRECTLY ANSWER On September 23, 2026, Iranian-American student Iman Dashti confronted Abdul El-Sayed at a University of Michigan town hall. Dashti described how his cousin had been hunted through the streets of Iran by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) over her hijab. He also described the persecution of his uncle under the Iranian regime. He then asked El-Sayed a straightforward question: Would he stand unequivocally against the IRGC and the Islamic Republic of Iran? Rather than directly condemn the IRGC, El-Sayed shifted to American foreign policy, criticizing U.S. military intervention and regime change while expressing general support for democratic movements. Dashti pressed him again. El-Sayed reiterated his support for freedom and democracy in Iran but never explicitly condemned the IRGC. The IRGC is not simply another foreign military organization. It is a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization with a documented history of supporting terrorism, targeting Americans, and violently suppressing the Iranian people. Opposing American military intervention and condemning a terrorist organization are two entirely separate positions. One does not prevent the other. Steven Emerson documents this exchange in Part 6 of his investigation, El-Sayed in the Brotherhood's Orbit, for the Investigative Project on Terrorism. THE 2012 MORSI STATEMENT: WHAT DID ABDUL EL-SAYED ENDORSE? In November 2012, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim Brotherhood leader, issued a constitutional decree placing his decisions beyond judicial review. The decree triggered widespread protests over the concentration of presidential power. Steven Emerson's investigation for the Investigative Project on Terrorism examines a November 25, 2012 statement published by Egypt's Al-Ahram Gate under the heading "Morsi Supporters in America." The statement carried 46 signatures, including the name Abdul El-Sayed. According to IPT's translation, it supported Morsi's constitutional decree and demanded a "purging of the media and the police as soon as possible." It also called for the decree's extraordinary powers to expire once a new constitution had been written. These are consequential positions. Supporting an elected president is one thing. Endorsing the removal of judicial oversight and calling for purges of public institutions raises fundamental questions about democratic accountability. During an October 23, 2026 Fox News interview, El-Sayed dismissed the statement as ridiculous and said it was being taken out of context. He has not publicly provided a detailed explanation of the language. Emerson has documented the statement and the public responses. The original evidence and its context deserve examination. THE MSA CONSTITUTION: WHAT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN RECORDS REVEAL Steven Emerson's investigation for the Investigative Project on Terrorism uncovered an important piece of the University of Michigan Muslim Students' Association's history: its own constitution. The chapter's 2006 constitution explicitly required adherence to the bylaws and constitutions of the national MSA and the Great Lakes MSA Council. Those supervisory bodies could even dissolve the chapter's executive committee and oversee new elections if disputes over Islamic principles could not be resolved. This matters because the Muslim Brotherhood's own historical documents identify the national MSA as an organization established by Brotherhood members. A 2007 FBI intelligence assessment also described the MSA as the first formal Muslim Brotherhood organization in the United States. Abdul El-Sayed served as outreach chair and later vice president of the University of Michigan chapter. Emerson has brought these historical records into public view. Read the evidence. FROM THE FBI'S OWN FILES: THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD AND THE MSA On February 27, 2007, the FBI issued an intelligence assessment titled Muslim Sisterhood: Women Facilitating Muslim Brotherhood Activities in the United States. The assessment identified the Muslim Students' Association, founded in 1963, as the first formal Muslim Brotherhood organization in the United States. At the time this assessment was written, Abdul El-Sayed was serving as vice president of the University of Michigan MSA chapter. Steven Emerson's investigation brings this historical FBI assessment into the discussion of El-Sayed's organizational background. This is an actual FBI intelligence assessment, not simply an allegation from a political opponent. The distinction between the Bureau's historical assessment of the national organization and an individual's membership is important. Read the archived FBI document: investigativeproject.org/doc…
