Congrats to @KatrinJM for securing Minderoo Foundation project on humid heat waves. Collaborating with @DrLouiseSlater, @ClimateNerilie, and experts like @sarahinscience,Sanaa Hobeichi, @NeginNazarian, and @YumingGuo007, they’ll build a global early warning system using AI/ML.

With ever-increasing global temperatures (we are dangerously close to the 1.5C threshold) more events like what we saw in 2023 are inevitable. In fact, these events will pale in comparison with what's to come.

we're not in a La Nina.
We're in an El Nino, that's ending.
It's too early to say that La Nina is developing or "taking hold".
**IF** La Nina develops, there's no physical way that current warm ocean temperatures are a result of something that MIGHT happen in the future.
