Dustin”boosh”henry

Just got done watching Dustin Henry. He just wrapped up his first year of high school, but will now be entering his junior year after reclassifying. Was listed at 6-3, 185 on his Hudl from November. Now being listed at 6-4, 215. Impressive gains, if true. My thoughts: Played safety for St. Frances, but it’s clear based on size and frame that he’ll be settling in closer to the LOS moving forward. Considering age, good mover with a competitive spirit. Shows good instincts and physicality. So many S/LB types in this Wommack defense, which isn’t surprising with all the single high looks. Both safeties need to be capable of rolling down into the box, but that boundary S is at its best when it’s that Bray Hubbard-Jireh Edwards type that brings the versatility to play some Dime LB too. Speaking of which, I’d love to see Alabama land another versatile, fun talent like top-100 athlete Gideon Gash, the 6-4, 205-pound 2027 recruit. Plays CB and WR for his HS team, and honestly, I can see him playing either on the college level. But I also think he’d be a hell of a Swiss Army knife in Wommack’s defense as a guy who could line up all over the defense (Kyle Hamilton-esque, in that sense). Anyways, not saying that’ll be Henry though. Sounds like they’ll plan on him being a LB, and between his length and background/range as a DB, should make him a nice modern player for the position. More of a Caleb Woodson type, who is lengthy and athletic after being a converted DB. And who knows where Henry could end up if he continues to grow. EDGE, maybe? Even with him reclassifying, it’s a long way to go until that 2028 cycle is signed, sealed and delivered. That said, it’s good that he felt strongly enough about Alabama to go ahead and make a pledge. And I fully trust Wommack to eventually utilize his versatile skill set.
