Keep the comments coming - please .. legacy bias and behaviours are still out there and we should expose them rather than put up with them !

Mmm wonder what it would look like if we balloted SBL’s on terms and conditions vs pay vs workload vs senior leader peer pay review???? Wonder if the strategy for well resourced, efficient schools means paying the highly skilled professionals who make it happen fairly?

New year reminder 🚨 🚨
Imagine people popping in your office saying ‘can you just..?’ ‘are you busy? now imagine that every time you stop and say yes that they take £5 from your purse….you wouldn’t let them ALL take your money so why let them ALL take your time?

I love my job, I love my sector, I love making a difference. I hate working in an uphill battle, I hate trying to making the books balance, I hate the uncertainty, I hate seeing colleagues overworked and underpaid. BUT we will survive

Unfunded pay rises = this year. Increased energy costs = this year. Highest inflation in 41 years = this year. Recruitment targets missed (again) = this year. Next year is too late for this year’s children

Every time I look at budget projections lately I keep thinking of the saying “ square pegs in round holes “ 🙄 #sbltwitter

Having been a business professional in education for 10 years I feel incredibly proud of our profession. I am worried about the amazing people leaving, I see an increase in inexperienced professionals taking their place and unable to deliver. What is the answer?

Mmmmm so SBL’s who sit on senior leadership teams influencing strategic direction and have been a key part of keeping education running. Will now under the new pay rise for teaching staff be paid on average inline with early career teachers…..seriously?

Here is a table with the new salary figures on for anyone number crunching this morning to assess the impact of the pay award.
All of these proposals are totally meaningless when it’s not funded. 👎🏻 School budgets are done 💷 Schools are already underfunded 🚸Pupil premium needs increasing and extended to 16-18 This is the wrong move, at the wrong time.

Funding for mainstream schools is increasing by 1.9% per pupil in 2023-24, but @cyclingkev @NEUnion says ‘the government needs to recognise the changed circumstances since the 2021 Spending Review and put more money into our children’s futures’ tes.com/magazine/news/genera…

Saw this posted on FB and thought what a great idea! Helping out parents who put pressure on other parents to buy gifts but also massively helping with marketing the school too with lots of positive reviews! #WinWin #EOY #teachergifts

Yesterday I watched a policy writer in the government speak about the value of our profession in the new white paper strategy. He missed the point….the biggest barrier is still a recognition of the role in EVERY school both in pay, SLT status and CPD access.

I totally agree it shouldn’t be a fight and you shouldn’t be made to feel ‘lucky’ if you are treated fairly this should be the norm for our profession. The role has evolved and to attract talented, qualified professionals it needs to be a given that we are treated fairly.
