That day when you and your team drive home a major law that will transform #Canada for the better! #cdnpoli -- there are so many people to thank for this. Our team has been dreaming of this moment since we started a coordinated campaign back in 2017. WE DID IT! #endsnowwashing
WE DID IT! #Canada Bill C-42 just received ROYAL ASSENT -- This is a landmark win for Canada as our Coalition has invested six years of policy and advocacy work to make this achievement a reality! #cdnpoli #endsnowwashing

Yes. This is a big part of why TNG has broad appeal: the progressivism is tempered by a conservative emphasis on duty, the chain of command, respect for the law etc. A very 80s / early 90s combination.

For many space scientists, Patrick Stewart *was* Capt. Picard—a pacifistic, stoic diplomat who hated megalomaniacs.
For @nytimes, I wrote about how he, and Star Trek, inspired everyone from astronomers and astronauts to planetary defenders. nytimes.com/2026/10/30/scien…

From @WSJFreeEx via @WSJOpinion: If you want to see a first-rate actor at work, watch Sir Patrick Stewart in the episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” titled “Darmok,” writes @SpencerKlavan.

We mourn the passing of Patrick Stewart, who inspired countless individuals at NASA (and beyond) to boldly go where no one has gone before.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

All good things must come to an end (S7:E26). I went for a long walk in the gorgeous autumn weather, honey milk tea in hand, and thought about how much this gentleman has meant to me over the decades. Thank you Patrick, you'll be missed dear friend. #PatrickStewart #StarTrekTNG

Good progress on Rec 25. Yet, Rec 24 remains partially compliant. Next steps: ID verification of BO information, pan-Canadian BO framework agreement, sunset clause for existing holders of bearer shares, and BO disclosure for foreign companies in #Canada. #cdnpoli @FP_Champagne
