There is something many young people moving abroad on student visas, particularly those hoping to build a permanent life overseas, do not fully understand until it is too late. When you are young, ambitious, energetic and full of dreams, moving to the UK, USA, Canada or Australia can feel like the beginning of a better life. You imagine completing your studies, securing a good job, becoming a permanent resident, eventually acquiring citizenship and settling down.
Unfortunately, immigration does not always work that way. A student visa is not a guarantee of permanent residence. It is temporary permission to live in a country primarily for the purpose of studying.
Once your studies and permitted stay end, you must either qualify for another immigration route or leave the country. Depending on the country, you may qualify for a post-study work visa, an employer-sponsored work visa or another lawful immigration category.
For instance, in the UK, an eligible employer can sponsor you for a Skilled Worker visa. This allows you to work legally and may eventually provide a pathway to permanent settlement, provided you continue meeting the relevant immigration requirements.
But here is where the real problem begins.
Getting admitted to a university abroad is one thing. Finding an employer willing and legally able to sponsor your stay afterwards is an entirely different battle. Universities will happily admit thousands of international students who can afford tuition fees. However, admission does not guarantee employment, sponsorship or permanent residence. And this is the reality many immigration agents, university recruiters and people selling the dream of life abroad rarely explain properly.
You can spend millions of shillings on tuition fees, accommodation, flights and living expenses, graduate with excellent academic qualifications and still find yourself unable to secure a job that allows you to remain in the country. You may have a master’s degree from a prestigious university, years of professional experience and impressive academic credentials, yet discover that employers are unwilling to sponsor you, the salary requirements are too high or your profession no longer qualifies under the prevailing immigration rules.
What happens next?
Some graduates end up taking jobs completely unrelated to their qualifications, not necessarily because they lack ambition or ability, but because their immediate priority has changed from building a career to finding a lawful way to remain in the country. Others enrol for another course, pay more tuition fees and obtain another student visa, hoping that the extra time will eventually lead to an employment opportunity.
Before they realise it, what started as a promising educational journey has turned into years of trying to secure immigration status. And this is the part that genuinely concerns me.
Your twenties and thirties are not just years for chasing visas. They are important years for building a career, establishing financial security, starting a family, acquiring property and enjoying life. Imagine spending ten or fifteen years moving between temporary immigration arrangements, paying millions in fees, accepting jobs you never intended to do and living with the constant uncertainty of whether you will be allowed to remain in the country.
Your ability to plan your future becomes tied to immigration decisions, employer sponsorship, changing government policies and political debates in a country where you may not even have voting rights. Meanwhile, your friends back home may be progressing professionally, raising families, acquiring assets and establishing businesses. Of course, not everyone who studies abroad experiences this. Many international students succeed tremendously. They secure excellent jobs, become permanent residents and build fulfilling lives overseas. But we must also acknowledge those whose journeys turn out differently FOR THE VAST MAJORITY….

If you are looking to travel the world for work, conferences, competitions, summits, volunteering, workshops, education, and more across Pakistan, Nigeria, SA, UAE, Nepal, India, Ghana, the UK, the US, and beyond.
I spent hours during the weekend finding companies abroad that are actively hiring and funding and compiled them into one sheet.
Application links, eligibility criteria have been added, so all you have to do is review the sheet and apply.

Vibecoders, 𝗜'𝗺 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂, before your next website or app, paste this into Claude Code or Codex:
"I want this to be as perfect as Linear's website or Apple Notes: simple purpose, simple architecture, simple design, simple implementation. Cut taglines, helper text and secondary labels. If a screen needs them to make sense, fix the layout. Every decision should elevate the user experience (UX), developer experience (DX) and agent experience (AX) at once, without breaking anything."
It’s Monday, another week of building, learning, and making things better.
We're excited about what we're creating at Tenriva and more excited about the difference it can make for businesses managing their everyday IT operations.
There's still plenty to do, and we're just getting started.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!💙

I don’t think most people realise just how valuable time is… If they did, they wouldn’t waste so much of it, nor will they be brazen enough to ask other people to come and waste their time.

They said African languages were too fragmented, too complex and too commercially insignificant to build advanced AI for.
We disagreed. So we built it.
64 languages. 166 voices. 3 billion parameters. ONE model.
Today, we are unveiling STORM-Ensemble 3.0, the most capable multilingual speech synthesis model we have built at PlotWeaver.
From Yorùbá, Igbo, Hausa and Nigerian Pidgin to Swahili, Amharic, Wolof, Zulu, Xhosa and dozens more, STORM-Ensemble 3.0 generates speech across 64 languages, with 166 distinct speaker voices.
Every voice you hear is generated by our model, not a prerecorded sample.
But the real breakthrough isn't the numbers.
It's what becomes possible when this technology is in the hands of people who can build with it.
-African filmmakers distributing stories across languages.
-Banks and telcos serving customers in their mother tongues.
-Education platforms reaching more children.
-Developers building voice AI products without starting from scratch.
We are not building AI for African languages simply to prove it can be done. We are building the infrastructure to make our languages commercially viable at global scale.
Next week, I will be speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Antigua about unlocking the Commonwealth's creative potential. This launch is a practical demonstration of that ambition.
Africa must not simply consume the future of AI. We must build, own and shape the infrastructure that powers it.
Watch the video. Listen to the voices. Imagine what's possible.
Introducing STORM-Ensemble 3.0.
PlotWeaver. Build Once. Speak Every Language.

We want to hear from people who actually manage employee offboarding.
When it comes to Microsoft 365 leaver handovers, which decision takes the most time to finalise?
We'd love to hear which parts of the process involves the most back and forth.
Let us know through the poll.

I am Happy for you all.
One thing I’ve noticed is that whenever people talk about careers in tech, it’s always Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity or DevOps but then there’s a whole side of IT that barely gets talked about. Modern Workplace Engineering.
So think about this, You join a company, you’re given a laptop, your email works, Teams is ready, you have access to the applications you need, and everything just seems to work. Do you ever wonder who makes all of that happen?
Now imagine a company with about 10,000 employees and they are all using different devices and working from different locations, with different access requirements. Someone has to design how those devices are managed, how employees authenticate, how company data is protected, how applications are deployed and how everything stays secure without making people’s jobs unnecessarily difficult.
That’s where people like us come in. I know allot of people saw my portfolio and were like what exactly do you do?
I am a modern workplace solutions specialist and I work with technologies like Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Azure, Jamf, PowerShell and a whole lot more.
Allot of persons would think all we do is fix laptops or resetting passwords but No, There’s actual engineering, architecture, security and automation involved. I genuinely think more people need to know this career path exists. Because there’s an entire infrastructure behind your everyday working experience that most people never get to see.
We believe the process of managing employee access deserves just as much attention as the technology used to manage it.
That's why Tenriva is designed around the people involved, the decisions they make, and the work they put in
We've broken down how the entire process works.
Swipe to take a look👇🏽

What is this take? 😂😂😂
Replying to @getlikerock
The jobs that everyone looked down on like prostitutes, OF models, and morticians are mostly safe. Everything else will be taken over by AI very soon. There’s no escaping it.
My goals have shifted to agressive retirement investing

I will tell you the truth. This is coming from someone who has ACTUALLY worked in tech, still does - saw the handwriting on the wall and safely pivoted/diversified.
In 2026, tech is like forex.
Do people still make money legitimately from forex? Yes.
But the people who seem to be making the most money are the ones teaching others how to make money.
If you're paying to learn tech - even though its not wrong, you should know what you're getting into.
1. YOU ARE NOT GETTING INTERNSHIP SUPPORT. 700 participants, 2 internship spots is not internship support.
2. Go and read on the streak of layoffs happening currently across the ecosystem - and it is just starting.
Microsoft just made an announcement asking about 6000 employees to activate their buyout clause - essentially saying:
"Terminate your contract now, and we will give you an agreed sum". This is a strong indicator of more layoffs.
Entire tech workflows that would ordinarily take a month, is getting done in 1 day. There is insane saturation.
The only ones assured on returns are the ones who sold a course to you.
That you don't like what I've said, doesn't make it a lie.
