Running a company:
2020: can you survive a pandemic?
2021: still here? we’re going to give all of your competitors $100m series A rounds.
2022: wow, you made it? okay, all engineers cost $600,000/year now.
2023: nice job! okay, SVB failed and we’re going to take away your bank account.
2024: a survivor I see. but can you pivot from ai to crypto to defense tech back to ai-enabled defense tech in a 12 month period to stay relevant?
2025: unfortunately all of your competitors have raised $2b series B rounds. oh and only 500 engineers are relevant and they cost $100m/yr each.
2026: well, well, well. you’re still in business? let’s deploy the thunderclap of godlike LLMs from the heavens so all of your customers can rebuild your app in 2 hours. can you survive?

We never thought we'd take more investment. But something special is happening out there and it's time for us to expand more quickly than we ever have. It's time to be more ambitious.
Because that's the one word keeps coming to mind as I think about our progress with the company:
Ambition.
At every turning point, one-way door product decisions, and new customer relationships, we've had partners who pushed us to think bigger. Dig deeper and draw upon our experience, intuition, history, and the advice of others to work smarter and build something greater than we planned initially.
Thanks to CreativeCo—Travis Parsons, Ashley Gautreaux, and Christian Czentye—our investors, who, in just a short time, have been incredible partners. This is a relationship that will last long and change our future.
Thank you to every customer, partner, investor, and believer we've had along the way. I'm grateful to every one of you.
And here...we...go. 🃏

Easily my favorite product image on @churnkey marketing page with @scotthurff's F-22 easter egg🐣
Nearly 20 years ago, during his Facebook years, @noahkagan replied to a cold email of mine asking his advice.
Since then, I've seen him evolve as an entrepreneur and a person. And I'm still learning from him (with stories of random shenanigans from CA to TX to MA throughout the years thrown in for good measure.)
His new book, "Million Dollar Weekend," will stick with you for a long time. If building a business has been a dream: pick it up. It's one of those efficient books that's big and practical and inspiring all at once—from someone who *really* knows what they're doing.

The anticipation and excitement of launching a new product never gets old. Sure, there's the risk of something going wrong—a bad link killing conversions, a server tipping over—but that's life.
Today, we're launching one of our most requested products ever: Reactivations and win-back campaigns. And it comes with our own unique spin on things, which started with a simple question: why are reactivation campaigns so bland and impersonal?
Well, now they're not. Since Churnkey knows why someone cancelled, can assess how they felt about things when they left, and make a very good judgment of their long-term value to your business, you're now able to create insanely personal win-back campaigns for every kind of customer your company serves.
Whoever made this piece happen deserves all the praise. What an amazing blend of reporting, storytelling, design, and nostalgia. I vividly remember this phase of the internet. Nicely done, @retool. And that scrollbar is absolutely amazing.

Introducing: How Do You Use ChatGPT? 🚀
It's a weekly show where I interview the most interesting people in the world about how they use @ChatGPT in their work and their lives—and show you every detail.
The first episode is with @shl, CEO of @Gumroad and @flexile. It's not theoretical: we screen-share through his actual prompts and responses, so you can see how @ChatGPT helps him perform better at work and improve his life—one conversation at a time.
We talk about how he's using ChatGPT to:
Buy a building. He wants to buy a New York City hangout for Gumroad employees and customers, so he asked ChatGPT to research the history of real estate in NYC, suggest which neighborhoods might be best to target, generate questions for brokers, and even detail what the design of a particular property might look like.
Write tweets. Sahil is a prolific Twitter/X user. He often uses ChatGPT to help him flesh out an idea. He says, “I [start] with a tweet, which is like a thesis, and then I just say, ‘Add three to four paragraphs to make the point compelling—also suggest more examples.’” We explore his precise process for using ChatGPT to help him brainstorm short tweets and longer essays in this episode.
Pressure-test ideas. For Sahil, ChatGPT is like upgrading his peripheral vision. It lets him see around the corners, ask better questions of himself and other people, and avoid poor decisions. He told me, “I think a lot of people sort of delude themselves into thinking they have [good ideas]… I think that one of the most useful things about [ChatGPT] is it focuses your research on what actually matters.” It’s the ultimate tool to help him think better.
Also in this episode: how ChatGPT could have helped Sahil save $70 million, how he thinks it will improve the most-talented creatives, and why he thinks—in the age of AI—people have no excuse for not knowing the answer to something anymore.
