Alex Salmond actually did something about it!!
"Alex Salmond told Scotland independence was close. Nicola Sturgeon said it was. And Humza Yousaf followed suit. Now, John Swinney tells us the stars are aligning. "But all four leaders have been saying the same thing for more than a decade. "If Swinney really wants to escape the shadow of his predecessors, he will have to do more than tell Scotland independence is getting closer. He will have to show that it actually is." For all Swinney's confidence, independence remains stuck || Deputy Political Editor Rebecca McCurdy 👇 𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘎𝘌: 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘸/𝘗𝘈 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦/𝘗𝘈 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴

Global recognition for Dumfries and Galloway 🌍 National Geographic has named our region as one of its Best of the World destinations for 2027, and the only UK destination included on the list. A fantastic celebration of our landscapes, dark skies, coastline and cycling.

2 ways to an independence vote. 1. The scenic route - ask various UK PMs for decades for a Sec30. (bonus moaning enabled when ignored.) 2. The direct route - use the legal powers you have to engineer early Holyrood election, use your manifesto to make it a Defacto Referendum.

Being bastards to the Palestinians in as many ways as they can imagine.
Israeli settlers planted a forest of Israeli flags around a Palestinian store in the West Bank, blocking the entrance and the windows. The owners called the IDF to report the incident, and the IDF told them not to touch the flags. 📍 Lubban ash-Sharkiyya 🇵🇸

Ach me ol mate Pete has blocked me.😢 I'd guess Defacto Ref truths hit home across SNP. Pete was once against, then for Defacto & told me "U were right"👍 But now? Against?🤔 He once wished for a debate on it. Maybe @PeteWishart & I can debate Defacto on zoom for indy folk?🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

Yes, we've reached the point in SNP history where those still interested in the pursuit of independence are a rogue faction.

Scotland won't have a problem if Swinney ever enables a vote. Imagine having the keys to independence in your hand but asking Burnham to open another door. 🤷🙈

Well SNP hold the Defacto Ref and you can prove it . But SNP won't. SNP will keep the possibility of independence in hibernation for 5 years at least. The trick is - demand everything but do nothing.
Andy Burnham has laid out the conditions for a second Scottish independence referendum during Prime Minister's Questions 👇

Too many people confuse independence with a polticial party ... If Fianna-Whichever are unpopular in Ireland, or current ruling Samfylkingin becomes unpopular in Iceland - none there says "Oh well let's give up on Independence" 🤷 🇮🇸🇮🇪

Not again - when did they last pull this stupid stunt? 2021 just before the election - when it was utterly futile!! As it is now 🙈 grrrrrr - they can call an election anytime on independence if they are serious. thenational.scot/news/265032…

How very very sad a beautiful soul remembered not only for her music but the work she did with disadvantaged children throughout her life. She’s now reunited with her beloved Carl.

Tangasdale 👇 is good for inspiration on independence 😁 Hopefully Swinney can discover a tactic to deploy :)) Say the only possible route - defacto referendum.
Good morning from the Isle of Barra. We’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful country.

Sound bites don’t win prizes.
❓A simple question for Andy Burnham. If this is a voluntary union, what’s the democratic way out?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Scotland voted against independence 55%-45% in 2014. The 1707 Acts created one sovereign UK state; the Union is reserved to Westminster. bbc.co.uk/news/events/sc… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acts_of_U…

Something to chew over... The SNP leadership cunningly has activists raging at Burnham for sticking to his principles. BUT That is just a distraction from asking why the SNP leadership won't use its levers for independence.
Oh fuck me, it’s time for a fucking petition again, apparently.
