#scuba #scubacertification #scubalogbook Most of us still treat the logbook like a homework book we fill out after the dive and then forget about it. Typically, when you’re just starting out (or helping someone who is), a regular logbook doesn’t do much to keep you safe, help you get better, or make sure the course itself is worth the money. The "SPF Starter Logbook" is different. It’s built specifically for Open Water students and brand-new divers. You get: • real selection criteria and red-flag questions for choosing an instructor and dive center • a skills list with self-assessment so you know whether you’re actually ready • space on every log page for buoyancy and trim notes and a self-debrief • a simple way to figure out the real cost of the course • the Diver Creed It’s a mini-handbook that happens to have log pages for your first 100 dives. Spiral-bound so it actually lays flat. If you’re about to start (or you’re teaching people who are), this is the one that puts you in charge instead of just collecting signatures. Have a look right down here... 🔗👇

#ScubaDiving #DiveInstructors #ScubaDivingIndustry More than one in four of us just said it out loud. 26.4% of scuba diving instructors admitted they have cut corners while teaching. Recreational instructors hit 31%. Tech instructors were lower at 19%. And 63% of active instructors rate entry-level course quality as low or very low. Time and the need to stay profitable keep showing up as the main drivers. Most of us still feel personally ready. The system is what creates the drift. The things that help most: reviewing standards, asking colleagues for honest feedback, co-teaching, having a mentor. We conducted the survey so we could see the real picture instead of guessing. Scroll down to the first comment to step inside... 👇 Curious what you’ve seen in the field.

#ScubaDiving #LearnToDive #ScubaCertification The card doesn’t make us ready. Only half of new divers say they feel ready to dive independently after Open Water. A lot of us have seen it. This pocket guide is the short version of what I wish every new diver had before (or right after) the course. How to pick a real instructor instead of the cheapest option. What gear is worth owning for hygiene and safety. How to check the air fill. And the New Diver Creed so we start with Safety, Performance & Fun locked in. I stripped it down on purpose. The long checklists live in the matching Starter Logbook. This one is the core so we don’t become another quiet dropout. If you’re about to start or still feel a bit shaky after the card, this is the one. (Find the pocket guide in the comments)

#ScubaDiving #ScubaDivingIndustry #DiveTraining Only 50.3% of new divers feel ready to dive with a buddy after their Open Water course. More than one in three said they weren’t ready. (The rest were "in-between.") Biggest problems still sitting there at the end of the course: buoyancy, hovering, and trim. Over half of the people who answered still struggled with those. Tourist-destination training came out lower on readiness than training closer to home. And most people said more dives and more skill-practice time would have helped. We hand out cards that are supposed to mean “you’ve got this.” The numbers say a lot of new divers don’t feel that way yet. Full survey results in the first reply.

#ScubaDiving #LearnToDive #TravelTips Only ~50% of new Open Water divers feel ready to dive independently. That’s the survey reality. The full beginner’s handbook gives us the map to change it — SPF framework, how to choose a real coach, what the rushed courses skip, and how to start on the right fin instead of hoping the card magically works. #ScubaDiving #ScubaDivingIndustry #DiveInstructor We were passengers. Then somebody handed us the wheel. Passion still matters. It just doesn’t pay for fuel. “Trying to survive on passion alone is like trying to fuel our dive boat with good vibes.” That’s from "Your Career and/or Life as a Scuba Diving Instructor (2nd Edition)." The rest of the book is the chart: charge like a pro, coach instead of stamp cards, take the captain’s seat on purpose. The info page is in the replies. When did YOU stop being a passenger?

#scubadiving #scuba #diving "Chinese Instructor Arrested for Allegedly Killing and Eating Turtle in Raja Ampat" "SSI and AIDA Respond to Raja Ampat Turtle-Killing Video" This isn't just another sad headline or local crime story. It's a wake-up call for our industry (we get plenty of those). A dive instructor gets caught on camera hunting a protected species inside a marine sanctuary, then cooking it and eating it... SSI and AIDA are looking into it, Indonesian officials have stepped in, and dive tourism leaders have taken notice. But it leaves us with questions. How effectively are we actually policing our own standards? What happens when remote enforcement fails, and social media becomes the primary court of accountability? What happens when it is not posted on social media? Who can become a dive instructor? Do we care about marine conservation, safety standards, or the future credibility of dive operations? Hey, @Apple - could you stop force-feeding us new useless features without giving us a way to turn them off?!? If you want to implement useless features, go ahead! But not giving us a way to turn them OFF is arrogant. For the first time in 20 years, I'm considering switching to Windows and Android because I am tired of spending hours on Google searches to try to figure out how to turn off useless Apple features. @AppleSupport - No, I will not fill out a form online. If you are not a bot and you actually use Apple devices, you know that there is a constant flow of new features we can't turn off. #AppleFail #Apple #MacBook #iPhone #iPad #fail #windows #android

#AI #fail "You are being penalized for being a disciplined writer, while people who write with sloppy structure get a pass with AI-checkers." I have to start being sloppy, so I'm not flagged as AI... "The people who get hit hardest are not sloppy writers. They are the ones trained to write cleanly." Shame on me! I went to school and learned how to write!!! Almost all my sentences starting with "furthermore" are flagged as AI. Guess what? I've used "furthermore" extensively way before AI was invented. In conclusion (that must have been written by AI, right?): <censored>.
