😂😂😂😂 The irony is too rich. Funny how anyone new to AI thinks Higgsfield is great, and anyone seriously in the field a while absolutely despises them and knows they are just some shitty wrapper company who has wasted money on gaming the system and scamming users. KEEP GOING Yoland and the whole Comfy community! Let’s bury this shit stain of a company once and for all!
Last night, @higgsfield sent @ComfyUI a cease and desist (attached) They want the Open Source Higgsfield challenge taken down within 48 hours. Their argument is that our use of the Higgsfield name and that using their CEO's likeness is an infringement violation (man, the irony). Claiming that it makes the event look like Higgsfield is associated with it. This couldn't be farther from the truth, which is that Higgsfield made a promise to open source its product and never did. For the past two weeks, builders have been recreating popular closed apps as open workflows anyone can run. So we asked our community to deliver where Higgsfield failed: apps in the open, built by the community, for the community. We've made it clear that the challenge is organized by ComfyUI and not affiliated with or endorsed by Higgsfield. When we started Comfy, we made the community a promise. Our product stays open, free, and yours. We’ve kept it every day since, and one letter isn’t going to change that. The challenge stays up. Comfy and open source will win!

the good side of the tokenmaxxing era is enabling quick scans of things hiding in plain sight - smart TVs - Cameras in hotels/BnBs - e-Readers making what's possible doable
If you've ever wondered why smart TVs are so cheap, this is why. @log4j rooted his Samsung and found an always-on hot mic, automatic content recognition, geolocation, network mapping, ad targeting and user profiling, shared with Samsung's "400 partners". A lot of it can be blocked in <15 min, wrote a basic guide below. What your TV is doing The main culprit is ACR (automatic content recognition). Your TV screenshots what's on screen, fingerprints it, and sends it home to build your ad profile. Samsung does it every 500ms, LG every 10ms [1]. What is insane: it happens on connected devices too. Plug in your laptop, your console, your work machine, and your TV can fingerprint that via HDMI [1]. He also found that if your Samsung doesn't have a mic, it'll look for one from a connected soundbar or bluetooth device. nitter.cf/log4j/status/211376224… It's on by default, and you likely agreed to it on the setup screen you clicked through in 10 seconds. Step 1: Turn off ACR Samsung: Terms & Privacy → Viewing Information Services LG: Live Plus Vizio: Viewing Data Roku: "Use info from TV inputs" Sony/Google TV: Samba Interactive TV Menus vary by model, but those are the names to look for. While you're in there, opt out of interest-based ads, reset your advertising ID, decline every optional privacy agreement, turn off voice recognition, and delete apps you never open. Step 2: Give smart devices their own network Put the TV, cameras, speakers and vacuum on your router's guest/IoT network. The logic is simple: these devices rarely get patched. If one gets compromised (getting drastically more frequent with AI), it shouldn't be able to see your other devices or home network. Step 3: Block trackers for the whole house with DNS-level filtering NextDNS (cloud-based) is easy and has a solid free plan. Pi-hole is a little bit more work if you prefer self hosting. For simplicity we'll focus on the former. 1. Sign up at nextdns.io (free tier is plenty) 2. Privacy tab: add a blocklist (OISD is a good bet) and turn on Native Tracking Protection for Samsung, LG, Roku, Amazon (see attached image) 3. Setup tab: copy your endpoint 4. Paste it into your router's DNS settings as DNS-over-HTTPS/TLS (or use the IPs + "Link IP" if your router only does plain DNS) 5. Bonus: block outbound port 53 except to your router. Some devices hardcode their own DNS to get around you Then open the NextDNS logs and watch how often your TV phones home. It's eye-opening. If an app or update breaks, find the domain in the logs and allowlist it. Why they do this TV prices are down 97% since 2000 [2]. Most of that is better manufacturing and brutal competition. But once margins on the hardware hit zero, the cost moved to you. In Q3 2024, Vizio lost $6.7M selling TVs and made $115.8M in gross profit from ads and viewing data [3]. They've said on earnings calls that they keep TV prices low to grow the audience they sell to advertisers. Walmart bought them in 2024. This isn't a conspiracy theory either. Vizio paid $2.2M to the FTC in 2017 for tracking 11 million TVs without consent. Last December, Texas sued Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense and TCL over ACR. Samsung and LG have since agreed to stop collecting that data without explicit consent [4]. TL;DR 1. ACR off 2. Ads + voice off 3. Smart devices on their own network 4. NextDNS filtering on the router Sources: [1] ACR study: arxiv.org/abs/2409.06203 [2] Cost of US consumer goods: aei.org/economics/chart-of-t… [3] Vizio Q3 2024: sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/… [4] Texas v. If your security team isn’t having sleepless nights after the last 24 hours, you should be worried. Cybersecurity is entering a period of absolute chaos. And this might be the new normal for a while before things stabilise.

Welcome to India where an engineer with iq of monkey can build infra for the entire country by bribes or nepotism.

we're going international baby!
What a terribly poor situation. And it happens because of lack of actual meritocracy in India. What is eMudhra business model? Regulatory capture. What is their competency? Being in cahoots with the govt. All govt organisations and PSU banks use them and they are one of the “recognised” authorities to digitally sign documents and all that - why? Because they had “contacts” in government to get into this position No private company actually use them of course because the experience of using them is dogshit and no one competent enough trusts them. But after getting such large PSU banks and orgs in India on board they went to other South Asian and Middle Eastern countries and got them onboard as well. And as of last week before the certificates were breached many popular financial institutions were using them. Like if someone brute forced their certificates; within first 256 attempts all 8 intermediate certificates would be gotten. Till now only reason they were not; was because no one thought it would be useful to brute force 2^384 combinations. Basically they never locked the door and no one actually tried to push it open all these years.

is someone building the "catch a work rat" benchmark?
We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work. At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated. We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

I often find myself going to @natfriedman's website (nat.org) when seeking thinking clarity as a builder it is almost like a crash course for founders here's a nugget on building fast:

Users end up blaming LLMs for these actions, but realistically, this is an infra problem versioning and agent trust go hand in hand

A company hiring for a job profile your product solves for, is a reason to look, not a reason to pitch. Knowing the difference is crucial

It turns out code… is the best way… to make videos… ⁉️ So, to take it a step further: we’re excited to introduce Video Arena - watch AIs compete to code the video of your dreams. (We should really be calling it Code 2 Video Arena! 💀) Now live at videoarena.newmeasure.ai. For $0, you can prompt an idea and then, choose the video which best captures your taste! Build UI walkthroughs, data explainers, launch videos etc.. The arena is currently live with our harness partners @heygen, @remotion, @mosaic; and is supported by the @openai and @anthropic models. Please try it out! Looking forward to what y’all build!
