🎬 When it comes to security, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania see things we don’t see. They understand things we don’t understand. And they do things we don’t do. 🌍 Europe doesn’t have a Baltic problem. It has Baltic solutions. #BeMoreBaltic

Thank you @Baltic_Takes for a shout-out!
There’s way too much linear thinking in how we usually imagine threats unfolding. Commentators keep discussing scenarios in which it’s assumed only Russia has agency and the initiative throughout. It’s nonsense, as @edwardlucas points out. His team at @securebaltics just ran crisis simulation exercises with ISM University in Lithuania that explore the complexity of how threats could unfold and how the Baltics and allies would use their strengths. It turns a lot of assumptions upside down. You can read more in this Sky News report: news.sky.com/story/sky-news-… And do give @securebaltics a follow.

🇱🇹 What can old Europe learn from Lithuania? 🛡️ Steel, drones and troops are only the minimum, argues @JackTwiss, former Dutch ambassador, now a lecturer at the @BALTDEFCOL. The rest is harder to buy. 📖 His guest article: bisc.s.gy/vytis

As Russia is failing on the frontlines, its weakness can be as dangerous as its strength. It’s urgent to strengthen our defences & step up support to #Ukraine. Thanks @securebaltics @ISM_University @edwardlucas for the insights over the last few days in Vilnius 🇱🇹

🌬️ Renewables as a price shield. From January to July, wholesale power in Estonia and Lithuania was about 40% cheaper in the hours with the most wind and solar output than in those with the least. In Latvia the gap was 19%. The protection is limited. (7/8)
