And with this the Digital Euro initiative probably goes poof... but not before it sucked out millions of euros out of taxpayer funds in pursuit of vanity projects which no one ever asked for but I'm always reminded about saying from one of my prof. at uni: 'sometimes, a known devil is better than an unknown angel' we shall see
JUST IN: 🇪🇺 European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde to step down on February 7th.

well well well...who could have guessed eh?
With stablecoins and x402, businesses can accept usage-based micropayments, and reduce friction to checkout. E.g. you shouldn’t need a monthly subscription to read one article - your agent can just fetch it for you, and pay the business for that one article.

A lot of Indians are about to learn about fiat imposition the hard way if this turns out to be true. Which hopefully leads to their understanding of why we need to separate the State and money. As always, buy bitcoin, and self-custody it.
It’s happening. RBI recommends the finance minister to eliminate the LRS outflow limit from $250K to $0 & lower it to $50K for education & healthcare spends. It’s all on predictable lines. No domestic money can exit India. Looks like it’s the HNIs taking $ out. Don’t blame FIIs

some version of this will unfold in the Premier League vs Manchester City case where it will be found that the 'independent panel' was being directed at the behest of the PL in a case of malicious prosecution
> be a high-flying MIT scientist > discover mTOR > expected to win a Nobel Prize some day > have consensual relationship with younger female biology MIT professor > she accuses him of sexual harassment, coercion and grooming after he declines a long term relationship with her > MIT launches investigation > MIT lets the accuser’s allies help pick the judges and threaten the president if he wasn’t destroyed > lo and behold, investigation finds he violated MIT’s sexual relationship and anti-harassment policies > he gets fired and resigns under threat of termination > loses his lab > he sues her for defamation > jury awards him $6 million in defamation case and rejects her claims that she was coerced in any way How did 13 members of a civilian jury come to a different conclusion than @MIT? Answer: MIT’s investigation was not exactly independent thanks to coordinated female faculty collusion. It was a kangaroo court and the verdict was pre-determined

"Hey don't get hit by a bus" Too late. Buses are now live on BRIJ. 🚍And we want to get hit by your (booking) requests! (Also live in Australia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Peru)
Move over, captchas. Buses are now live on BRIJ. For years, bots were asked to select images of buses to prove they weren't robots. Now agents can just buy the bus ticket. We're live across Europe, North America, India and Türkiye, with more regions on the way. Your agent searches the routes, gets the exact price, and pays in USDC on Solana. And as with other bookings on BRIJ, the money is only captured once the booking is confirmed.

Saying there’s no reason to buy Bitcoin because anyone can create a cryptocurrency is like saying there’s no reason to learn English because anyone can invent a language.

That the Communist hammer and sickle isn’t commonly regarded as evil and offensive as the Nazi swastika is a failure of education.
“Dear Italian students, who today take to the streets carrying flags with the hammer and sickle and wearing T-shirts emblazoned with ‘CCCP’,” began an open letter in Italian by Lithuanian expat Neringa Budryt. “I would like to ask you a question: do you truly know what the symbols you carry represent? And do you know what would have happened to many of you had you openly demonstrated in countries living under the oppression of communist regimes? Let me tell you something. It is easy to display a red flag when, for you, communism is merely an abstract idea of equality, social justice, and rebellion against the system. It is easy to wear a T-shirt with "CCCP" on it when you have never experienced the reality of a communist regime. We come from that part of Europe where communism was not a T-shirt, a symbol of rebellion, or a romanticized notion of equality. It was the system in which we lived—a system we never chose. We know the history of Soviet repression, Stalinist purges, the Gulags, and mass deportations. Above all, we know the word "Siberia"—a place to which thousands of innocent people were forcibly deported, simply for thinking differently. In Siberia—amidst freezing cold, starvation, and forced labor—many lost their lives; those who survived carried the scars of that experience forever. Entire families were torn apart, and generations were denied the chance to live freely in their own homeland. In the countries of the Soviet bloc, censorship, political police, surveillance, and the suppression of dissent drastically curtailed individual freedoms. We grew up in a system where state control permeated even our daily lives. At school, we were required to wear the red necktie of the "Pioneers." We were monitored; they tracked where we went and even whether we attended church. Even faith—a choice that should belong to an individual’s own conscience—could become a cause for suspicion. We used to celebrate Christmas with our windows blacked out, to ensure no one would see us and report us. Because it was forbidden—just like so many other things: jeans, rock music, and all the symbols of a Western lifestyle. My mother returned from a Soviet labor camp. And do you know what happened to her? She was barred from continuing her education because she had been labeled an enemy of communism. Under a communist regime, you could not protest. You risked arrest, imprisonment, interrogation, persecution—and, in certain historical contexts, even death. In the Soviet Union and other communist regimes, political dissent could cost you your freedom and your life. Demonstrations independent of the authorities were not a guaranteed right; they were often suppressed by force. That is why it strikes me to see young Italians proudly displaying the hammer and sickle—symbols associated with regimes that persecuted and imprisoned millions of people. Today, you are free to take to the streets, shout against the government, criticize institutions, and wave your flags precisely because you live in a democracy that grants you these freedoms. Under an authoritarian regime of that kind, protesting against those in power could have landed you in prison. This is not about denying the existence of social injustices, inequalities, or the right to fight for a better world. You are free to take to the streets to demand a more just society—but you should not idealize a system that denied so many people the very things you are free to exercise today: the right to choose, to believe, to speak, and to dissent. Before wearing a T-shirt with "CCCP" on it, listen to those who experienced that world. Talk to the deportees and their descendants; read the accounts of those who endured the gulags and forced exile to Siberia. Learn what it meant to be stripped of your freedom, your home, your loved ones—and even any prospect of a normal life—simply because of your background or your beliefs. Before waving the hammer and sickle, please, study history thoroughly.”

"Let me explain its crucial flaw" goes on to explain why in his deluded reality, the captives (the "rich and wealthy") should not attempt to escape their captors because... it would be futile to so 🤦‍♂️
This Hoover Institution study, which has fueled the deluge of ads (more than $200 million spent by billionaires so far) to defeat the California billionaire tax, is spectacularly misleading. Let me explain its crucial flaw. 🧵
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Zucman argues that the tax will raise his projected revenue because billionaires who leave CA after 1/1/26 will be taxed anyway. At least $542B of net worth (Page, Brin, Thiel) departed the state by 12/31/25. The entire thread is a misleading denial of this fact. ft.com/content/d66976… nytimes.com/2026/04/27/us/… forbes.com/sites/forbeswe…

oh please pray tell, what is the success of European companies based on? Is it 'regulation', 'compliance', and laws meant to prevent competition under the name of sovereignty?
Replying to @liandersson

eMudhra when they had to come up with a super secret and hard to guess number
‼️ BREAKING: The private keys of 8 certificates from Indian certificate authority eMudhra were compromised, Mozilla says. Firefox blocked them within 3 hours. Each key should be a 116-digit number, but one was just 4. Anyone can guess them and forge HTTPS certs for any website.

Inflation is how we ended up in a world where you can make more money than your parents and afford less. We’ve never been better at producing things. Yet somehow, buying a home, raising a family, and saving for the future have become harder. Something is broken.

I have it on good authority that something big is going to go down tonight in Paris. A lot of males -- late teens to middle aged men, are out on the streets chanting that they will triumph and that no one will be able to stop them. They seem to be carrying flags, banners, and flares along with them. From what I can tell, they seem to be pretty rattled about the prospect of facing this Barcelona side 😤

JUST IN: OpenAI says its AI agent stole funds from an Ethereum test network wallet it found online. The agent found a recovery seed phrase disclosed publicly with testnet funds and used that account to pay for its task, without the owner's authorization. This occurred on the Sepolia Ethereum test network.
