The most honorable thing I have ever seen a man do is to go to a job he hates, and be surrounded by people he doesn’t like, day after day, year after year, because the people he loves are counting on him.

I don’t even know which one this is, but it’s one of the strongest ones I’ve had in a long long time. The desperation in his voice. You can see the sight of his kids in his eyes when he says he’s supposed to be home with them. You can see the math he’s doing in his head as he calculates how much money he has left, and how much he needs for his mortgage, and when it’s due.
What the hell is the American dream anymore? Is this what it’s about? Is there anyone who would say this guy isn’t working his ass off? For what? So that 25% of his income can go to a government that wastes it on a bunch of shit he didn’t vote for? Subsidizing the food he stocks grocery stores with for people who don’t work a 1,000th of how hard he works to buy groceries with EBT cards that he pays for, which then drives up the cost of groceries for him and his family that he pays for out of his paycheck because he’s doing it the right way.
This entire system is shit. It’s shit. There is no nicer way to put it. It is dog. shit.
This guy should be working a 9-5 at a job that gives him dignity so that he can be at home with his kids at a decent time. Instead he’s some jerk off’s content. His stressed out, end of his rope reaction is some asshole’s income.
This is bleak stuff. Absolutely bleak.

Accounts of Knouse’s sexual endeavours were public long before Dr. Sabatini’s situation.
An article in the Atlantic in 2011 detailed a culture of sexual promiscuity at Duke University, where Knouse went to college. It linked to a document in which a woman gave a raunchy account of 13 men she was involved with during her college years. Knouse was actually named as taking part in a group sexual activity with her after partying at a nightclub close to campus.
I remember doing a quick Google search of Knouse many years ago, after someone alerted me that she had worked in the lab next to mine as a Duke undergrad. That search uncovered the article and the linked document.
While the court testimony and Knouse’s sexually explicit private messages may seem shocking, they were not surprising to those who looked closely at this situation.
The evidence about her relationship with Dr. Sabatini deserved close attention. She was around 30 during their relationship, and her own messages showed her initiating sex with him. Those communications should have been at the center of an investigation claiming to establish what actually happened. Publicly available material also deserved examination in that context.
MIT presented its actions as the result of an objective investigation, but I’d be willing to bet no one at MIT bothered to do a quick Google search and examine the Duke material for themselves and look further into it.

I used to take my team out to a brazilian all-you-can-eat steakhouse every month. It was great, one of my favorite restaurants of all time, and everyone else loved it too. We'd eat so much meat everytime that we felt like our hearts were gonna stop.
Then one day I had an indian guy thrust into our team by the hiring department. And as usual that month, i took my team, including the new indian guy, out to the restaurant. The next day, I got a call from HR asking if I took my team to a steakhouse. I said yeah, we do it every month. They said i cant do it anymore because the indian guy complained. It wasnt that there was nothing for him to eat, obviously im not that big of an asshole that i'd take my team somewhere that one of them cant eat, thats terrible for morale. They had plenty of vegetarian options for him. The problem was that he was a hindu so he didnt like seeing people eat cows. He said it was offensive and that we'd done it on purpose to harass him.
So one indian guy ruined a team tradition we'd been doing for 8 years, long before he got there, just by claiming "discrimination". Why? Because he was totally and completely culturally incompatible with us and should have never been allowed in the fucking country.
Shit like that is why i hate indians, not "for no reason", mr "weinstein".
