I think people who find this appealing and people who don't find it appealing can't ever really understand each other and shouldn't bother trying.
I think I like movies. But then a trailer comes out that is two average-looking people talking to each other from 8in apart, and you all go see it. And I guess I just don't like movies as much as I thought.
It's a narrow path musicians walk between seeming aloof and doing the whole "none of this is possible without YOU!!!" thing. I'll just be direct about it and say I'm grateful. Most people don't have many opportunities to express themselves and I've had a bunch. Thank you.

I think the "it's 2026 man" is the point. What you're saying feels good to say, and anyone would assume it's well-intentioned. But if ANY people are offended you're supposed to change your behavior? There's 8B people on the planet. Maybe it's best to ignore her instead.

I see someone post something like their best/worst movie list and think, "why would anyone, anywhere, ever, care about your opinion on movies?" and then I apply it to my own life and post less.

When I see people on social media post screenshots of conversations to own the other party, the other party always wins. Because airing out the specifics of a private conversation makes you the most untrustworthy type of clout goblin.
