I have read the first chapters of Gen. Saleh and Prof. Ogenga Otunnu's "Consociational Democracy Agreement." It rightly names the central question: how to end political exclusion along ethnic and tribal lines. Then it ducks the answer.
The NRM is presented as the cure, never the cause. Our history is told from the colonial "divide and rule" through Amin and Obote, and the NRM arrives in 1986 as "a sustained, if incomplete, effort" to fix it. Forty years on, sectarianism is more pronounced than ever. The NRM has multiplied the problem and now presents itself as the solution.
The elephant in the room is left out. Under "What Remains Unresolved" the paper lists the Electoral Commission, money in elections, Buganda's land, youth unemployment and education. There is not one word on the dominance of one ethnic group in strategic positions in the army, intelligence, civil service, parastatals, oil and all public spaces. That is the main sectarian cleavage of our time. A paper on sectarianism that cannot name it, co-authored by a man at the top of that patronage system, cannot be credible.
The paper says "let me be clear and honest about what the NRM period has achieved," but is silent on Obote I's achievements. It even finds room to praise Gen. Saleh's own land mediation in Kapeeka as "a model." Honesty that applies only to one side is not honesty.
The paper gets the history right: Amin's expulsion of the Asians was "a calculated appeal to genuine economic grievances" and "broadly popular." Today's populist war on corruption plays the same game. As the paper itself warns, "using sectarian cleavages for short-term political gain destroys the long-term conditions for national unity."
"When legitimacy is ethnic rather than institutional, no institution can function." Correct. That describes Uganda today, where loyalty to tribe and patron outranks loyalty to the State and the Constitution.
The irony: the paper condemns NRM–DP and NRM–UPC deals as "backroom deals between elites… negotiated in private, without the knowledge or consent of party members." So how was this document developed? It reads as the work of two men, asking all of us to accept it as the prescription for our problems.
National unity cannot be built on a history that absolves the regime holding the pen.

The Curious Case of The Apostolic Gracious Muyaayu.
Papa, when I was told that you had attended that meeting, I told my colleagues that you were obeying powers and principalities, just as you have always taught us.
But when I listened to your submission, I was heartbroken.
The fact that it was another pastor who spoke about political prisoners, while you, my spiritual father who leads one of the largest youthful congregations said that “PLU is not known to be an abusive and subversive party,” broke my heart even more.
Papa, you know that the young people in your church are informed and intelligent. They have phones. They see the videos of abductions involving men in military uniforms acting under the authority of the very people you were praising.
Papa, you teach us to let God fight our battles. Yet at that same meeting, you raised the issue of Gashumba’s statements about our church before PLU leaders in a manner that sounded like you were asking them to take action against him.
Papa, you have hurt thousands of young people, including those who may never have the courage to write a post like this.
We forgive you. We will still come to church, sit in our usual seats, worship God and listen to your sermons.
But Papa, forgiveness does not mean we were not hurt. And remaining in church does not mean we agree with everything you said. @Phanerookampala

Rest in Peace Dr. Namusoke (first female orthopaedic surgeon in Uganda)
Recently, she needed UGX 200M for kidney transplant.
Dr. Namusoke, notably treated Samuel Leeds after a serious accident on River Nile in 2019.
Samuel later built UGX 1B at Jinja Hospital

Jimmy Kimmel tells Donald Trump to "resign" as U.S. president after the Republicans' losses in the midterm elections:
“The verdict is in, and there’s only one thing left for Nappy Gilmore to do: Resign. Quit already, just quit. Nobody wants you. Even you don’t want to be president anymore. Take that billion dollars worth of crypto, buy an island. Maybe Epstein’s island? Wouldn’t that be a perfect end to this story!”
Kimmel also railed against Trump claiming he would've won if he were on the ballot: "That is such crap. You were on the ballot. You’re like dog hair; you’re on everything. You’ve infected every nook and cranny of our lives. You divided this country like no one else ever divided it before. The only time you ever brought us together was yesterday, when we all teamed up to get rid of you!"

According to Dr. Kizza Besigye, the sole conversation worth having with despot Museveni concerns one subject, ie, the orderly packing of bags and exit from power. Anything else is brouhaha and misinformation. New Vision and Gen. Salim Saleh would do well to stop smoking cow dung and calling it national dialogue.

When a nation's leadership fails to respect a constitution that determines how power's transitioned, you end up this way.Jostling for space at the feeding trough!
Uganda’s future should not be negotiated through elite power-sharing deals with those who gang raped the constitution.

CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba, "the Cabbage," should arrest himself. The very reasons he gives for picking up Elwelu, abuse of power and participation in subversive activities, are exactly what he is doing.
PLU has continued to canvass for his presidency, hiding behind the law and disguising a political power game as a fight for freedom, against corruption, and for the rule of law. Very Subversive.
They started with Anita Annet Among because she had built political power and was a political threat. It was never about corruption. If it were, they wouldn't have brutally arrested the youth who marched to Parliament. Subversive much.
Then they launched an "anti-corruption" campaign through Balaam's office as Minister of Local Government. But they wear PLU shirts and hold cameras. He is now a content creator, marketing Muhoozi as the man who has come to fight corruption. Extremely Subversive.
They picked up Elwelu because he doesn't support Muhoozi's presidential bid. Now they claim he led subversive activities in Teso, simply because he opposes Muhoozi's illegal candidacy. So Subversive.
PLU should stop laundering its illegal presidential campaign. And Muhoozi Kainerugaba should arrest himself, because he is the one engaging in the most subversive activities.
