While the concept of value is fundamentally intrinsic to our subjective experiences, no referent can truly possess value independent of a valuer. Paradoxically, certain referents emerge as so universally prized across human societies that they practically function as if they hold inherent worth. Such is Bitcoin’s inevitable path. Substantial rewards accrue to those who deduce, recognize and adopt the former proposition before the masses.

Feature request/fix idea for @nikitabier & @Engineering Can we get programmatic audio leveling/normalization for X Spaces? I’m tired of constantly adjusting my volume because some speakers are too quiet and others are way too loud. Equalizing the audio programmatically would drastically improve the Spaces listening experience.

The mother "superintelligence factory" from which all others spring. Note the all seeing eye message 👁️ "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" Except of course the abuse of surveilled data by the "authorities" themselves. You might have to fear that.

Data haystacks should be criminalized. There is plenty of precedent. Doesn't matter the entity, private or public - they all lose our information equally.
🚨 LATEST: SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce says zero-knowledge proofs could verify compliance without collecting users’ personal data. She warns current KYC/AML practices create “data haystacks.”

Why did @Spotify premium go from “No ads experience” to “just kidding, we’re playing ads and you’re still gonna pay us and we’re gonna jack up the price annually”?

With regards to fuel prices, have you tried riding a bicycle to work? It's actually really fun. A little sweat, a little breeze, perhaps some rain in your face, a splash of mud on those soggy days, an opportunity to change clothes at the office. Excellent.

An extraordinary @Nature paper has just landed from the lab of @Sergiu_P_Pasca at @Stanford - led by Konstantin Kaganovsky. They have found a way to create "xenocortical mice" which have ~92% of their cortex occupied by a cortical organoid derived from human stem cells. This human-derived cortical graft integrates deeply with the host nervous system, supporting organised neural activity and behaviour. This study is a milestone in synthetic biology and chimera research. It has the potential to generate multiple medical breakthroughs by providing an enhanced biological model of human brain tissue that allows behavioural as well as neural and genetic assays. The Stanford team have been exceptionally thorough and proactive in addressing ethical concerns that comes from this frontier work. But their pioneering work nonetheless raises many open questions: are the xenocortical mice conscious? Do they have any human-like properties of consciousness or cognition? @NitaFarahany and I will be addressing some of these questions in a forthcoming commentary - where we'll also offer an ethically-informed roadmap to guide this important research as it progresses. In this context, "pacing the frontier" really does make sense 😉 Read the Stanford @nature paper here, and buckle up. It's wild. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

The denominator matters
Anybody telling you the denominator doesn’t matter is confused. This is why you hard money. It’s really simple mathematics. The Denominator Matters.

Today, Bitcoin Policy Institute and a broad coalition from across the digital-asset ecosystem are publishing an open letter calling on the world’s leading AI labs to provide qualified open-source defenders with trusted access to frontier AI models. The past several weeks have made the need for this abundantly clear. The people defending digital-asset infrastructure and open-source software need access to the latest AI capabilities to perform comprehensive security reviews and stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated adversaries. The coalition includes open-source development organizations, major custodians, treasury companies, payment services, security firms, capital allocators, and others whose businesses and customers depend on the integrity of open-source infrastructure and libraries. Open-source defenders often occupy the least privileged position in the AI security landscape. They have limited access to the strongest internal cyber models and are frequently blocked by guardrails when using publicly available frontier systems for legitimate security research. As a result, they often resort to less capable open-weight alternatives. We are urging frontier AI labs to establish a clear, trusted pathway for qualified open-source and digital asset defenders to access their strongest capabilities, with sufficient compute and secure environments to conduct meaningful security reviews. Frontier AI could become one of the most powerful defensive technologies ever developed, but only if defenders get fair access to those systems. It’s time to give defenders the tools they deserve. Read the open letter, add your organization, or sign as an individual on our website at btcpolicy.org/ailetter

Yesterday I began fully integrating the @OpenAI trust cyber program into my Bitcoin Red Team efforts. This morning I woke up to see this. I am now being blocked from doing additional analysis on a codebase which I've already responsibly disclosed to, and have received confirmation had legitimate findings. To be clear, this is after having already KYC'd and completed the onboarding process months ago to use the cyber capabilities OpenAI has to offer. I am now prevented from being able to continue the investigation in a further effort to make sure their code changes are sufficient, as well as understand if there are other issues that have yet to be discovered. It absolutely guts me as a patriotic American to have to do this, but I will be going back to using Chinese open source models to conduct my research to protect Bitcoin infrastructure. Black hats will not hit these issues. The white hats will. We've hit a local minima in policy. Intelligence is unrestricted for those who don't follow rules, and those who engadge in harm reduction are left on the sidelines. What are we doing in this country? How is this keeping people safe? Please do something @DavidSacks @sama @realDonaldTrump

BIP110 fascinates me. Not from a technical perspective but from a psychological one. Technically it's always been clear & yet I’ve watched very technical, highly intelligent people get trapped in it. We over value raw intelligence & seriously undervalue emotional maturity. Not getting caught in a groupthink isn’t a matter of intelligence, it’s a matter of maturity and self awareness. Humans have a big fucking issue with mania and groupthink. We expect that in places like politics but we are often blind to it in fields like science and technology. But groupthink exists anywhere that humans exist. Many years ago I became a technological determinist and decided that the best way to improve the world was to build tech. But these days sometimes I think it might be a better idea to go get a degree in psychology.

.@simpleminingio mined block 961,634 using @ocean_mining’s DATUM protocol. This block extended the bitcoin main chain as it did not signal support for BIP 110 consensus rules. While many members of Ocean’s team support BIP 110, they created a protocol to let their customers decide what they think is best. This should be lauded.
