This shit reminds me of the people who say "I let my intrusive thoughts win and dyed my hair. teehee." That is not what that means.
"its nonverbal time!!!!" i genuinely hope none of these people ever have to experience how scary it is to completely shut down and be incapable of speaking no matter how badly tney might want to cause its not some cute and quirky "erm leave me alone!"
No genuinely this shit pisses me off too. The amount of times I see people misusing these terms and then just flat-out not giving a fuck is so infuriating.
"Im so nonverbal!" "Im so OCD!" and not once had they had to suffer due to being born with a condition they couldnt help
Genuinely makes me feel like neurotypical people are the actual divergent ones because it would make way more sense that way
non-verbal exclusively refers to autistic people who Always do not speak if you have a period where you "go non-verbal" thats not how you should describe it either i am diagnosed and have had similar experiences but i am not non-verbal in any capacity bc regardless i DO speak.
And anyway isn't nonverbal specifically ONLY for autistic people/people who don't speak? Like even someone autistic having a meltdown then not speaking after isn't considered nonverbal since it's used only for those who consistently don't speak? Or is that wrong?
