अब सर्दियां आ गई, भगवान रक्षा करे उत्तराखंड के पहाड़ी गांव में रहने वालों की।
Bear attacks family of four in Joshimath, kills cow; residents allege forest team didn’t reach
A bear attacked a family in Singhdhar ward of Joshimath, Chamoli, around 3 am today, seriously injuring four members of the same family.
The bear first attacked a cow, killing it. When the family woke up, it turned on them. Two more people were injured while running to escape. The injured were taken to hospital and later referred to a higher centre.
The area falls under the Nanda Devi National Park forest division. Its official, Ashish Jirwan, said Rs 15,000 has been given as immediate assistance, and Rs 1 lakh will be provided in financial aid.
Residents allege that no forest team reached the spot despite the seriousness of the attack. They have demanded patrolling, deployment of a forest team and monitoring of the bear’s movements in the area.
With winter setting in, bears are increasingly moving out of the forests in search of food and into residential areas, raising fears across the hills.
