The uncomfortable reality is that Israel was founded on terrorism, assassination, intimidation (even against neutral parties), and open armed conflict with the residents of Palestine followed by atrocities.
There is nuance to any situation. But it would be a lie to say that this was just a group of persecuted people trying to peacefully find a homeland after WWII. That is demonstrably and unequivocally untrue.
