I had forgotten about this book. I had a blue version when I was younger. I decided to pick up a new one .
Second Halloween movie for tonight is Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. The movie is about 75% Mocumentary and 25% regular movie style.
The big horror movie killers, like Jason, Kruger, and others exist in this world. A documentary filmmaker wants to follow a new killer and how they prepare for what they do.
The first Halloween movie for the night is Deadstream. A disgraced internet streamer is having a live stream in a haunted house .
It is done as a found footage / live stream format.
The movie is actually pretty good. It starts with a humorous feel with a character you don’t like, but the fear starts to ramp up.
Another Horror game is Dead Lands. Currently it is a Savage Worlds property, but it started as its own thing. I first played it before Savage Worlds. I have the 20 year anniversary edition that came out years ago. I picked it up at Tribes in Austin TX when I was out there for a couple of years for a job.
The Monster Hunters International had two different games made from the Book Series. The first one was a Hero game and the second one was made for Savage Worlds.
The series deals with a company that Contracts hunting monsters in the modern times.
A TV show for Halloween is a British limited series called Ultraviolet. It followed a police officer that gets pulled into a secret group of Vampire Hunters.
They do have a few good ideas in the show. I watch it every couple of years.
Today’s TTRPGs for Halloween. I always liked playing “Generic” RPGs, mainly starting in the mid 80s with Hero. And Savage Worlds is my main one the last few years. I like playing different genres and their source books let you tweak things for specific games.
These are the Horror companions for SW and Hero.
Tonight’s Halloween season movie is The New Daughter. Who knew Kevin Costner did a Lovecraftian movie?
Since I have this boot on still for tomorrow I will not hand out candy in the driveway Halloween like I normally do. I will just watch multiple Halloween movies during the evening. I think I will do Comedy Horror movies.
It seems I was mistaken. I have two more Cthulhu type games. Delta Green and The Laundry.
They were on the same shelf as CoC, and would have bitten me. ;-)
I think this is the last of my Cthulhu stuff. I was working on running a Masks of Nyarlathotep game just before my stroke. I just had not decided if I was going to use regular or Pulp CoC, though with my regular group, I think Pulp is what would have settled on (We had just started a deadlands game)
I have the prop box and looking forward to using it. That is one of the things CoC does well if having modules full of things the players can actually see.
Another TTRPG today is Realms of Cthulhu, using the Savage Worlds Ruleset. I think this is even before Deluxe edition.
Another TTRPG today is Achtung! Cthulhu. The version I have has two rulesets in the books. CoC 6th edition and Savage Worlds Deluxe.
Call of Cthulhu spawned a lot of games based on Lovecrafts work.
An interesting one is Cthulhu Tech, a scifi horror game with bio engineered Mechs. I think there have been another edition but this is the one I have.
Since it’s Friday, the TV show for Halloween season is Friday the 13th: The series. It has nothing to do with the movies.
The TV show is about a guy who sold his soul to the devil and sold cursed items, later, he dies and two family members inherit his store and finds out about the cursed items, they set out to try and find the cursed items.
Today I will post several Halloween TTRPGs . I did not know I had some many “horror “ themed games.
The OG is call of Cthulhu, pictured is the 40th anniversary edition and the Pulp Cthulhu editions .
Tonight’s Halloween Season movie is Haunt. A movie about a group of friends that decide to visit a haunted House on Halloween.
The multi tool I carry in my pocket has wire cutters due to this movie. ;-)
