Don’t treat your Strength, like Conditioning.
Too many programs attempt to turn Strength work into a fatigue session filled with high reps, low rest, and lots of exercises.
This is completely unproductive for developing Force producing adaptations.
So much potential in this young man, he gets better each rep! Just scratching the surface!!!
Took a hard faught loss Friday night to a very good Richmond Collegiate team to bring our record to 3-1. Looking to bounce back this Friday against HRA. @CoachDuncanNSA @TFSilvernail @Coach_Fly_NSA @simps105 @PrepStarSW

Recipe for Fast Strength Progression👇🏻
1. Low Rep Sets
2. Heavy Loading
3. Full rest between working sets
4. Singles Method to Top Sets
5. Undulating Waves
If you can lock these in, you will see rapid increases in Strength.

I tested @freelap and @OVRPerformance simultaneously for 40 yard dash yesterday in order to see how the two times compared. I wanted to know if the new system (OVR) would yield comparable times to Freelap so my compiled year-over-year data remained relevant. 🧵
Week 3 of Monday Max Velo testing. Putting this out there to see if anyone else wants to throw their numbers out there. 17.3 MPH average as a team. I think a fair goal is 18.
@pntrack
David is such a competitor and has ice water in his veins. Excited to see him continue to excel!!!
Plays from a dominate team win this week! Finished 13/19 330 yards and 6 touchdowns! Shoutout to the o-line for holding up, onto the next⚜️ @CoachDuncanNSA @coachjohnNCSA @football_qb_7 @TFSilvernail @simps105
One year ago from this past Friday night, @BigO1005 took a hit that could have devastated his football playing days. He was in the ER while his team won a thriller in OT. While the season went on, he had to start rehab. Not only did he return stronger and better but he came back more focused and mentally prepared. One year later, same week 3 opponent, he came out anchoring the O-line in very convincing victory. Multiple pancake blocks and great communication all night. The next day he took his first college game-day visit at VA Tech. Folks see the results but they should know he worked really hard every day to get these results. The day after his injury he was in the gym and spent almost every day working on strength, speed and technique. I’m positive this young man will be successful in whatever situation he finds himself in.

Hudl Highlight tape from the first 3 games of the season as we 3-0

The number one way to immediately improve your Athletes numbers in a Conjugate system is to drop Max Effort in place of Brief Maximal Tension.
You will increase Strength in a fraction of the time, and therefore see Jumps and Sprints follow.
Run it for a wave and report back.

Spent the last hour answering a coach from Texas:
Hey Coach,
I know you talk about cramping being a neurological issue when it comes to game time in football.
I know you need to match the intensity of the games in practice. What about the volume? Are you trying to match the volume as well at those intensities?
(such a great question)
Answer ⤵️
Never match volumes in practice. LET THE GAME BE HARD. (Marathon runners don’t train by running marathons in practice!)
Feed the Cats teams thrive in the 4th quarter because they enter the game mentally alert, fully-charged physically, and FAST. (And speed is the barometer of HEALTH.)
Total volume of the practice week should add up to the game with no practice exceeding 1/3 of a game volume.
No different than training for a fast 400 meters. It may sound intuitive to run repeat 300s, 400s, and 500s but it doesn’t work.
1) too slow (speed wins)
2) too miserable (destroys the the E’s: energy, enthusiasm, excitement)
3) physically ruins the next day and eventually detrains athleticism
4) injuries guaranteed
Instead, let the 400 be hard. Sprinting 1000 miles a week would not make the 400 “easy”.
Train at performance-level in small doses. Train on a foundation of freshness.
Think about it this way, if you matched game volumes AND intensities in two 🏈 practices (Tuesday & Wednesday) during the week… that would be the same as playing 3 games in 4 days. (That’s old school 🥴)
Never burn the steak.
