Good thing Steve Bray knows who some very powerful relatively unknown people are. Most would not recognise any of the key personnel in the Cambridge Analytica team. At the Spectator Summer Ball last year too.

Why does he keep getting involved?
And why did he specifically state, with emphasis, that it's only the football have to be looked at fully and not the wider investment?
He's said more about this since becoming PM than any other issue.

Not sure the Navy will agree to fire on unarmed civilians

You work for the propaganda arm of Reform UK.
Their leader is one of your shareholders.
Your presenters spread vile conspiracy theories.
They also laugh at the death of the Prime Minister's Dad for cheap laughs.
It's just vile and no wonder no one in government speaks to you

Awe, this is nice.
I'd missed Tom's bottle cap posts.
A new twist [pun intended 😜] in the tale is a welcome addition.
Juice Spillage Risk Analysis with Tom Harwood.
Talk TV would lap that up [pun intended 😜].
Please note this: M&S Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice (with bits).
As I opened the bottle, I saw a not inconsequential amount of the liquid (and bits) clinging to the lid.
Had I left the lid attached, there would be a non-zero chance the orange juice would gloop onto my white shirt.
I therefore tore off the lid (attached due to the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive 2019/904) in order to make the product useable.
It left a sticky scratchy bit of plastic at the top, which I now have to consciously think about avoiding as I drink my orange juice.
My overall product experience has been made materially worse. Oh, and I ripped off the lid anyway. No one wins from this insane regulation.
Go on then #Newsnight explain to me why the opinion of an utter cunt like Tom Harwood that can’t open a bottle of juice has to offer beyond his Reform paymasters agenda 🤷♀️

Tom Harwood is not a credible guest, he is a propagandist for a far-right outfit from a pretend News Channel. Why is his view relevant? #Newsnight

Southampton has excellent ventilation in it's A&E, along with staff who always seem willing to pop on a mask for vulnerable patients. Well done to them!
It is a shame that so many other hospitals haven't learned...

In the South most areas are rising towards 10%, with Plymouth, Bournemouth, and Portsmouth above that.
Southampton's managed to get in control of the rise, but that's a sign of UHS Trust imposing more sensible infection control measures - community levels may be higher.

Yep, he's great at those.

I don't think you want to go down with that kind of joke, @RaheemKassam.
I can, of course, skip Tate and discuss the relationship between Steve Bannon (your boss) and Epstein, if you prefer.

You. Were. A. Tory. Councillor.
Where were your protestations during the three years you were an elected Tory politician? 2022-2025.
The Tories keep saying they “made mistakes”.
Mistakes?
You governed this country for 14 years. These weren’t a few bad calls around the edges.
These were decisions that fundamentally changed Britain, some of them potentially forever.
They left us with the highest tax burden since WW2. Now they talk about cutting taxes.
They grew the state. They grew the Civil Service to historic levels. They let the welfare bill balloon. Now they talk about small government.
They buried businesses, financial markets, property and housebuilding under regulation.
Now they tell us regulation is strangling growth. No shit Sherlock.
But who wrote it?
They now say regulation stopped homes being built.
Who wrote it?
They milked Stamp Duty. Now they want to abolish it.
Home ownership fell dramatically on their watch. Now they have the audacity to tell us they are the party of home ownership.
London was one of the great centres of global finance. By 2024, the UK was down to 20th in the world for IPO fundraising.
One of the greatest financial centres on earth decimated by a Conservative government.
They enshrined Net Zero in law.
Now they want to abolish it, apparently they just realised how damaging it is to our economy. Kemi said countries with expensive energy are poor. Who made our energy expensive?
They allowed the Armed Forces to shrink while the rest of the state grew.
Now they tell us defence is the first duty of government.
Really?
Was it not the first duty of government during the 14 years you were actually the government?
They promised to stop the boats.
They didn’t.
They cut police numbers.
They closed magistrates’ courts.
They hollowed out the justice system.
And while people were being robbed, burgled, stabbed or having their shops emptied, the Conservatives had the audacity to arrest people for tweets.
And then there is immigration.
They promised to control it. Bring it down to tens of thousands.
Instead they gave us the Boris wave, just about 4 million people.
Net migration reached levels Britain had never seen before.
And this is exactly why calling these things “mistakes” doesn’t cut it.
Because you cannot simply reverse years of mass migration.
Some government decisions alter a country for a few years.
The Conservative’s decisions altered Britain for a generation.
Some may have altered it permanently.
And please spare us the “new Conservative Party”. It isn’t.
Kemi Badenoch was a minister.
Chris Philp was a minister.
Andrew Griffith was a minister and the Government’s Net Zero Business Champion.
Claire Coutinho was literally the Net Zero Secretary.
Richard Fuller was a Treasury minister.
Alex Burghart was a minister.
They were making the decisions. They had the power. They were the government.
Governments don’t get to experiment on a country for fourteen years, fundamentally change it, leave behind damaging consequences that could last for generations, change the wording on the leaflet and demand that everyone treats them as the new management.
These weren’t simply “mistakes”. They were deliberate choices.
Choices that changed our economy, our population and the size and reach of the state.
And some of those changes may never be fully undone. That is the arrogance of it.
The belief that you can make decisions of this magnitude, fundamentally change the country, wait for the political wind to turn and then say:
“Sorry. We got it wrong. Trust us to fix it.”
No, you broke Britain and only Reform will fix it.

There's a clear decision being made in this statement.
The government won't/can't change fuel duty, even on a temporary basis, because of the wider fiscal hit to their budgets.
There is no money, I understand that.
Did Burnham/Healy understand that when they took over? Very little has changed since then.
Burnham talks about 'the reality of global events' — a very fair point but, in my opinion, he needs to be setting out a clear plan to deal with the underlying causes and any interim help that may be required.
A Google Maps update is decent, although this service is already available in other apps, but the truth of the matter is, it will not make any difference at all.
I challenge the Prime Minister and Chancellor to make a promise to the UK. Not bold sweeping statements or fiddling at the edges.
Promise to set out a clear pathway with the obstacles clearly labelled, show us your working.
I think you'll be surprised how receptive we, the public are, to honesty.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.
