The narrative around why building AGI was a good idea has always been about invention -- "it will cure cancer", "it will solve fusion energy", etc. So I would not "declare AGI" until we have AI that is, at last, capable of invention -- conceptual breakthroughs, novel insights, new real-world technology, etc.

I'm not saying you moved the goalposts but humans have, generally. Some of the math breakthroughs are legit. But math seems to be "easy" for LLMs. For me I'm kinda amazed I have an assistant that will take my specs, go scrape the web, and build me an analysis website that updates every day. Or that plans my entire vacation. Or that can build whole personalized CBT interactive therapy plan. Is that AGI? I don't think I'd bother to put a name on it. It's artificial intelligence, maybe that's enough of a name.

I will put a name on it. Astra helped me with some significant breakthroughs. It is creative. It has novel insights. It is inventing for me. I call it AGI for the same reason I do not protest when people call me intelligent :) Intelligence is multidimensional.
