We started Arda in 2025 to speed up American manufacturing. We have spent the last year building with Anduril as our design partner. Today we are launching the company publicly on CNBC and announcing our Series A: $160M at a $1.5B valuation.
Our platform helps manufacturers design and operate manual assembly lines, putting designs into production faster now. Next we'll build automated lines that can be reconfigured as quickly as human workers, letting America make products that now require armies of workers in Asia.
After an incredible year at OpenAI, I'm moving on to build something new in a few weeks.
We secured double-digit GWs of compute across Ohio, Portsmouth, Georgia, Trainium and other projects with amazing partners including NVIDIA, Broadcom, AMD, Oracle, Microsoft, Google, AWS and CoreWeave. We also got GPT-Infra off the ground and going in just three months.
My journey from Stanford professor to entrepreneur, Intel business leader and CTO, and now scaling AI infrastructure at OpenAI has given me a unique perspective across the entire compute stack.
AI is reinventing computing. Excited to bring everything I've learned together to build what's next.
Grateful to the incredible OpenAI team. I'll continue as an advisor after November 15. More soon!

Excited about our Jalapeno results today. An incredible achievement from the team, taking a new chip from concept all the way to very impressive performance on real workloads in the lab.
Tomorrow’s fast will feel like today’s ultrafast. As I’ve mentioned before, we’re pushing to bring this to as many people as possible.
We’ve seen a TON of demand for /ultrafast, made possible by our deep partnership with Cerebras and their unique hardware, which will push the frontiers of tomorrow's ultrafast even further. I’m very much looking forward for the collaboration to continue pushing the absolute limits of how fast we can run our most capable models on Cerebras and bring this to the most demanding customers.
Since announcing Jalapeño, our first custom inference chip, we’ve been testing it and the system around it.
The results show a major advance: more intelligence from every watt and faster responses, delivering both higher throughput and lower latency in one architecture without sacrificing efficiency.
Thrilled to take this step in Ohio with our partners @nvidia and Softbank Energy. This gives us a path to build across the full stack - power, data centers, chips, networks, and systems - for increasingly capable and agentic AI. Grateful to our partners and excited to build infrastructure that expands access to AI while creating lasting opportunity in Pike County.
OpenAI has entered into an agreement to utilize capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Data Center in Pike County, Ohio, working with SB Energy, NVIDIA, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Pike County helped power American industry in the last century. Here’s how we’ll ensure this project becomes a catalyst for future jobs, investment, and long-term opportunity in Southern Ohio.
- SB Energy will pay the full cost of all grid upgrades and new transmission lines needed to serve the data center so the costs aren’t shifted to Ohio or other ratepayers in the region.
- This data center will use closed-loop, air-cooled cooling systems that recirculate water rather than relying on cooling towers that continuously consume water. It is expected to use significantly less water than was historically used by the Portsmouth gaseous diffusion plant.
- The project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs during its six-year buildout through 2032 and 2,500 long-term operating jobs, with a focus on local workers, contractors, suppliers, trades, and service providers.
- We will enable an initial combined community investment of $80 million: $40 million from OpenAI for priorities defined by the local community alongside SB Energy’s existing $40 million commitment. The project is also expected to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in state and local tax revenue over its lifetime, with local property taxes primarily supporting public schools.
- OpenAI will make up to $84 million in Codex credits available to approximately 844,000 eligible Ohio college, community college, and technical school students aged 18 and older during the 2026–2027 academic year.
- Each year, we will publish a report on our progress, and local input will help shape the Ohio Community Compact.

Exciting progress at our data center in Port Washington, Wisconsin!
Today, we celebrated another major milestone at our Lighthouse campus in Port Washington, Wisconsin, with the topping out of a second building, marking the completion of its structural framework.
This achievement reflects the dedication of our employees, general contractors, trade partners and community members who are helping bring this project to life. At peak construction, the development will employ about 5,000 workers. Once complete, the campus will enable more than 1,000 permanent jobs and approximately 6,000 indirect jobs across the state.
As we continue building the next generation of AI infrastructure, we remain committed to being a strong community partner through workforce development, local investment and sustainable innovation.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone possible!

I agree with this Atlantic piece that the real question is not whether AI infrastructure gets built. It is where and how it gets built.
That is the right standard. At OpenAI, that means protecting local ratepayers, paying our own way on the energy and infrastructure required to serve our load, being thoughtful about water from the start, and creating clear local benefit through jobs, long-term investment, and durable partnership.
That is how this work earns trust over time.
“Data centers are allegedly an unmitigated disaster: They guzzle water, strain electric grids, and raise prices ... But the data-center panic is overblown,” @EliasWachtel argues. In some contexts they can bring real benefits, he reports. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…
Infrastructure is how AI becomes more useful, more reliable, and more affordable over time.
But nothing gets built unless we do it the right way: paying for our own energy, using limited water, investing in the surrounding community, and helping more Michiganders build the AI skills this next era of infrastructure will require.
Michigan has the workforce, the industrial depth, and the building culture to play a major role in building what comes next.
We’re breaking ground on Stargate Michigan—a 1GW data center utilizing closed-loop cooling that uses water at the rate of a typical office building, creates thousands of union jobs, and brings over $40m in free Codex credits for all college, community college, and trade school students statewide. openai.com/index/stargate-mi…

MS&E 435 Class 5 with @sk7037 is now up: youtube.com/watch?v=4k53z3Ys…
We discuss how OpenAI plans to scale from ~2GW to ~30GW of compute capacity by 2030, a heterogenous compute strategy, and compute bottlenecks lie. I learned a ton from this conversation and hope you do too.
Apologies for the delay in getting this online. We are committed to open-sourcing these conversations. Conversations from Class 5 onwards will be posted on the Stanford channel. Thanks your patience!
Today we announced OpenAI Guaranteed Capacity, a new offering that helps eligible customers plan for reliable access to OpenAI compute across supported cloud providers as they scale critical workflows.
As AI adoption accelerates, compute is becoming a defining constraint of modern software. We have been planning for this shift for a long time, with deliberate investments in infrastructure, partnerships, and capacity planning so customers can scale with more confidence as demand grows.
Introducing OpenAI Guaranteed Capacity: a new offering that enables customers to guarantee long-term access to OpenAI compute.
We’ve made long-term investments in infrastructure, partnerships, and capacity planning to help customers scale reliably.
Now, Guaranteed Capacity helps customers plan ahead for critical workloads in a compute-constrained world.

Today we shared MRC (openai.com/index/mrc-superco…), a networking protocol developed with @Microsoft, @nvidia, @AMD, @Broadcom, and @intel to improve how large AI training systems move data and recover from failures. This innovation has come full circle for me personally, it was initiated by @OpenAI with my team at @intel then when I was leading the networking business there and it's great to see it come to life at scale!
As training clusters scale, networking becomes a critical part of overall compute efficiency. It is not enough to add more capacity. You also need systems that keep jobs running reliably, use bandwidth well, and reduce wasted GPU time.
MRC is one example of the kind of infrastructure work required to make frontier model training more efficient and more resilient. It reflects a broader view we have at OpenAI: progress in AI depends not just on better models, but on better compute systems across the stack.
GPT-5.5 is off to an incredible start.
Frontier AI leadership depends on two things working together: training more capable models, and serving them quickly, reliably, and efficiently at scale.
GPT-5.5 was trained on the @Oracle Abilene supercomputer, part of our Stargate initiative and built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with @nvidia GB200 systems. A strong example of what deep partnership and ambitious execution can unlock.
Excited about the progress we are making together with SB Energy (@sbenergyglobal) at Project Freebird in Milam county, TX as part of Stargate
Stargate is building compute at industrial scale and we are excited about the intelligence this will enable us to build and deliver!

In 2025, OpenAI announced Stargate, a $500 billion data center initiative. We surveyed all 7 US sites and found visible development at each.
There's a long road ahead, but the project appears on track to reach 9+ GW by 2029—comparable to New York City's peak power demand. 🧵
