🧓🏡🏥👩‍⚕️ : BC NDP leader David Eby says he will provide funding to help 5,600 BC seniors get homecare, instead of them living in Emergency Rooms, or being placed in senior care facilities. Across much of BC, Emergency rooms are often forced to close due to a lack of staff. Eby believes more homecare will mean less stress on ER services. Is he right? I do believe in homecare. I also believe in keeping Emergency Rooms open. The BC NDP record has been a failure on a scale never seen in BC. When I have been at the Emergency room locally, it's clear there are seniors left in hallways, with dementia related issues. Perhaps credible homecare will fix at least some of those issues. I don't trust anything the BC NDP says. But this is a good idea.

🇨🇦 LEST WE FORGET 🇨🇦 PASSCHENDAELE — OCTOBER 5, 1917 On this day in 1917, a decision was made that would send the entire Canadian Corps into one of the most infamous battlefields of the First World War. On October 5, British commander Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig decided to employ all four divisions of the Canadian Corps in the Ypres Salient. Their destination would ultimately be Passchendaele. The Canadians arrived in a battlefield devastated by months of fighting and rain. Shellfire had shattered the drainage system, turning much of the ground into a landscape of water-filled craters and deep mud. Canadian Corps commander Lieutenant-General Sir Arthur Currie had serious reservations about committing his men there, but the Canadians were ordered into the campaign. Their offensive began on October 26. Through a series of attacks on October 26 and 30 and November 6 and 10, Canadian troops fought their way toward and through Passchendaele. The village itself was captured on November 6, and the final Canadian attack on November 10 secured the crest of Passchendaele Ridge. More than 4,000 Canadian soldiers died in the fighting and almost 12,000 were wounded. And amid all of that destruction came this remarkable photograph. Taken at Passchendaele in November 1917, it shows a wounded Canadian soldier and a wounded German soldier lying beside one another in the mud. One is helping the other light a cigarette. Two wounded men, enemies on the battlefield, sharing a small human moment in one of the most brutal landscapes of the First World War. More than a century later, the photograph remains a powerful reminder of the human beings who endured Passchendaele. We remember them. 🇨🇦 📷 Canada, Department of National Defence / Library and Archives Canada / PA-003683

BUY CANADIAN! 🇨🇦 SOURCE CANADIAN! 🇨🇦 BE OUR OWN BEST CUSTOMER! 🇨🇦 Speeches, Lectures, Slogans, Flags. Meanwhile, Carney's Ottawa's own records show $9.3 BILLION in contracts and amendments went to suppliers outside Canada between April 2025 and February 2026. And of the first 14 contracts #MarkCarney touted under his shiny new "Buy Canadian" policy, only FOUR went to Canadian-headquartered companies... FOUR! You really cannot make this shit up. Apparently "Buy Canadian" means Canadians buy the speeches while Ottawa buys everything else somewhere else. At some point, we have to seriously consider the possibility that @MarkCarney doesn't know what the hell he's doing. It's time Liberal voters start voting for experience. Between bankers and drama teachers/snow board instructors, they continue to saddled Canada with incompetence at the top. Agree or disagree? #BuyCanadian #cdnpoli #ThinkForYourself #MakeHypocrisyShamefulAgain #StopRewardingIncompetence

Pay attention. The 10 years of decline allows more than the US to point out our weakness. China just did it over Canola and apparently, you missed it. Dont question my patriotism when your naivety has undermined yours

I've found a unicorn. When we moved in last year we had some major renovations done including two new bathrooms, flooring and a number of other things. The contractor we hired showed up every day, worked hard, did quality work and charged a fair price. They are certainly a rare find, but today they moved into unicorn territory. I sent and email yesterday about a couple of small jobs I had. They replied right away, the estimator was here today and they will do the work Thursday. This is for a job just under $1,000. Amazing.

Why is Carney sending struggling Canadian taxpayers’ money to Brazil if its GDP is higher than Canada’s? Ukraine is bad enough. This is sheer nonsense.

Canada has been in a technical recession since late 2025/early 2026 and suffering a severe contraction in Real GDP per capita. The leadership is inept. We're Getting Poorer: GDP per Capita in Canada fraserinstitute.org/studies/…

Oh good. Another central Canadian in Toronto telling Albertans they have no conviction Then praises Quebec separatists. You’re proving our point everytime you and Jenny post this nonsensical garbage.
Replying to @mattgurney
Quebec nationalists have the courage of their convictions and are honest about their goals. I disagree with their goals, but I respect the people. The Alberta separatists are a different breed. Which might be why the Quebec ones seem to be better at it.

EDITORIAL: No, Canada is not a ‘European’ country Prime Minister Mark Carney has prepared Canadians for his bid to have Canada become an associate member of the European Union by claiming, “Canada is the most European of non-European countries.” The problem is, it's not true. torontosun.com/opinion/edito…

Forest fires have become larger and more intense in western North America over the last few decades because of decades of forest mismanagement and fire exclusion practices, not because of “man-made climate change.” Even still, forests burn far less than they did prior to westward expansion. These so-called “researchers” are not telling the full story and will only be given grant money to tie their findings to “climate change.” The gravy train needs to be dismantled. Funding for it has not been cut enough.
Researchers across the US are seeing a similar trend — forests that are historically adapted to fire are now often being obliterated by the fast-moving, high temperature wildfires that are becoming increasingly more common with climate change. These researchers are grappling with what it will mean for our world if the trees that are the centerpiece of these landscapes we love don't recover like they once did. cnn.it/4htUwf5

Belgium is reversing course on nuclear. Decommissioning has been halted. The government has signed a letter of intent with Engie for a full state takeover of the nuclear fleet. For years, Belgium followed the green script. They shut reliable nuclear. Bet on weather-dependent power. And increased reliance on imports. Now reality has intervened. Prime Minister Bart De Wever says Belgium wants safe, affordable, sustainable energy with less dependence on foreign supply -- which raises the obvious question, why was that not Belgium's policy all along? Nuclear was always the sane option. Dense power. Low carbon. Dispatchable. Domestic control. It works when wind drops. It works when the sun sets. It works when gas prices spike. Belgium is not "transitioning." It is backing away from a big mistake. Europe, it appears, is finally waking up to the green folly.
