🧵 With the news that TNT might lose the NBA, it’s time to share the story about Ernie Johnson and the @NBAonTNT halftime show he made for my Bar Mitzvah.
It began w my dad and ended w me being called a drug addict & ballhog (fair, tbh) in front of family & friends

Damian Lillard had a lot to say today regarding the current culture around young basketball players and yes men.
He says his Formula Zero Camp is about teaching kids how to have the characteristics beyond talent in order to survive and stick in the NBA.

Aight. Here’s my favorite 2 stories about Bill Russell.
Both stories reveal how much of a humble human being he is. And one blows my mind because it dismantles what we think about the evolution of sports.

Bill Russell story…
Senior year of college. I’m the GM of our student radio station. Get a PR pitch email asking if we are interested in interviewing Mr. Russell, who was promoting what I recall to be an arthritis medication….

A couple of notes for tonight's game. First, Gonzaga and Baylor are here on the strength of great offense. Given the lack of control that defense has over offense in the modern game, it's past time to retire 'defense wins championships'. Now, 'bad offense loses championships'

What a game. So proud of both teams tonight. One of those games when there’s not a loser - only a winner. This was college athletics at its finest. Congratulations Coach Cronin and UCLA on one great season! Hats off to Gonzaga.

My freshman year at Baylor I was MISERABLE because i went from avg 30ppg in high school to playing 5 minutes a game at Baylor. My mom took upon herself to go talk to Coach Mulkey behind my back... lol here’s how that went.

Beware of those little guards you pass on 5’11-6’0 scorers - you just might end up playing them in the NCAA tournament 👀👀 -there are good guards everywhere!!!

I need to see dudes groom kids from start to finish. Freshman to Senior year! Not snag them from other ppls programs when they already have a name, offers etc then take credit for them going to school like they didn’t already have a buzz and offers before they got to you!

Playing hard is important. Competing is more important. Competing=taking a small action to create an advantage.
