DRONES ARE LOADING… A NEW ERA OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE IS GETTING CLOSER! We’re taking another major step toward transforming emergency response in the City of St. Louis! Installation is underway for the new Aerial Response Unit, bringing us closer to launching our Drone as First Responder (DFR) program. Thanks to the generous support of the St. Louis Police Foundation and its donors, we’re investing in innovative technology designed to help our officers respond to emergencies more effectively, improve situational awareness, and make our communities safer. Once operational, these drones will be capable of responding to high-priority 911 calls, potentially arriving before officers and providing critical, real-time information to help guide emergency response efforts. This Wednesday, the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners will consider the special orders governing the Aerial Response Unit, an important step toward launching this new capability. This technology isn’t about replacing police officers. It’s about giving the brave men and women serving St. Louis another tool to protect lives, reduce risks, and respond when seconds matter most. The future of emergency response is looking up! Learn more at SLMPD.org/drones

This is BIG news for St. Louis and the @SLMPD. Taking politics out of policing means working together to deliver for our officers and the people they serve. This is how we move forward. When we invest in safety, we invest in the future of #STL.

NEW: Vigilant neighbors and great police work helped bring two 16-year-olds into custody overnight after reports of people breaking into or attempting to break into cars in Dogtown. District 2 officers responded to the area and located a gray Kia Soul near Lloyd and Hampton. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle immediately fled, driving erratically. An all-points bulletin was broadcast citywide, alerting District 6 officers, who located the vehicle and took both teens into custody after a foot pursuit. During the investigation, officers uncovered that the Kia had just been stolen. Thank you to the neighbors who spoke up and the officers who worked together across district lines!
