Mike Scamihorn and I have been on a similar journey over the last few years, and we keep coming back to the same conviction: we need God and safe, life-giving relationships to grow and get through hard seasons. So we are starting what we call - Acts 2 Gathering on April 19th at 1:30 pm in Wabash (still looking for a place to meet). It is a very different type of monthly Gathering - a lot like this classic commercial below announcing Apple McIntosh in 1984. Of course, we doctored it up a little📷

We’ve all heard it - maybe we’ve even said it: “All you need is God.” God is enough… and God still designed you to need people. Not because He is lacking - but because love is relational by nature, and God made you in His image. Jesus is the clearest picture of what a fully spiritual human life looks like. He didn’t treat relationships like optional add-ons. In his most overwhelmed moment - Gethsemane - he asked for closeness and invited His disciples to come with him. Then he asked Peter, James, and John to come even closer. Who do you have that can come with you during those difficult times? It is best to "travel in groups."

I just did another video from an excerpt of the show, White Lotus. I only saw this one scene. I know other parts of the show aren't the best, but this table scene with Kate, Laurie, and Jacky is the kind of connection with our friends we all need.

Check out our latest NeuroSpark Podcast 1.5.26 Relationships built in Neurological Grace. The most powerful way to change deeply rooted negative feelings like anxiety, depression, shame, or guilt is to intentionally put yourself in a relational experience with a safe person where you can talk about and feel what you are experiencing, and in that moment, "feel something different from them." youtu.be/FVauxRhgWgo?si=Oi4A… via @YouTube #HealingJourney #Healing #grace #Jesus #relationships #anxiety #depression #Shame

Grace isn’t just for salvation or forgiveness—it’s how God helps us rewire the brain for healing. When we feel a painful emotion from a past memory, “in the moment” with a safe person who responds differently than the relational experience that caused the memory, the brain changes those neuropathways. Neuroscientists call it memory reconsolidation. I call it “neurological grace.” These corrective relational experiences begin to erase the painful emotions of the original relational experience and replace them with new, healthier ones. Jesus provided this kind of healing all the time: Peter’s denials, the woman caught in adultery, the woman with the bleeding issue, and Zacchaeus. Watch how he related with the Woman at the Well and utilized “neurological grace,” a biological mechanism God purposefully designed into our brains, to have “do-overs.” This week, share a painful moment with a trusted friend, ask for the new type of response you need, deeply feel this new relational experience, and then both of you share what it was like to experience this together. In the Chosen, Jesus demonstrates Acceptance, Compassion, Grace, and Forgiveness! God cherishes every one of us, embracing our flaws, forgiving our failures, and never stopping to pursue our hearts. God's love runs deeper than our pain, broader than our failures, and higher than our hopes. No matter where we are or what we've done, His love surrounds us—unstoppable, unbreakable, and freely given. This is how God truly feels about all of us: loved beyond measure, treasured beyond understanding, and welcomed just as we are.

The Church as a Family of Grace: Grace must be embodied in human relationships within the church. The church is meant to be a community where forgiveness and acceptance are lived out. Safe relationships, which were purposed initially to create the church, rewire shame into a sense of belonging, making individuals "new creations." Each act of acceptance among followers of Jesus becomes a living corrective relational experience, rewiring shame into a sense of belonging and renewing the mind neurologically. #acceptance #Forgiveness #HEALING #healingtogether

Grace is a profound concept that goes beyond mere favor. It encompasses being cherished, wanted, and valued, even in the midst of our shame, imperfections, and vulnerabilities. In our human interactions, it's common to withhold love when confronted with faults and limitations. However, Grace breaks the chains of shame by providing a sense of belonging, joy, and closeness, fostering connection instead of anticipating alienation. Together, we can learn to embrace Grace, whether it is God's or a safe friend. If you are interested in learning about the gift of Grace, please email [email protected], and he will send you his article called "The Other Side of Grace: Being Loved While Still Broken. #Grace #freedomfromstress #HealingJourney #Hope

Elphaba’s iconic words from Wicked remind us how deep, meaningful relationships can help us overcome rejection, rewrite our story, and unlock our potential. 📷 Did you know neuroscience supports this? Corrective Relational Experiences activate the brain’s natural ability to heal and grow through Memory Reconsolidation. 📷 See more neuroscience-backed lessons from Wicked. makininstitute.com/defying-g… #DefyingGravity #RelationalTransformation #NeuroChange #WickedMusical
