Three key points:
1) Grid governance should move further towards energy-only systems.
2) The right governance for the grid is tech-neutral.
3) Capacity markets are cures worse than the disease.
I was a bit skeptical of Ted's point ~12 months ago.
I think that was wrong.
Once again for those in the back. The mainstream green groups were never going to be part of the abundance coalition that was going to get serious about building a clean energy future. A lot of people were upset at me when I said this at the first Abundance Conference but everything that has happened since has pretty well proved my point, starting with the protest immediately after my speech and culminating with the full court press by the movement to kill permitting reform.

When it comes to data centers, America needs policies driven by free markets, not bureaucratic mandates.
That’s why a coalition of organizations dedicated to limited government and protecting the free market has issued a statement of principles to ensure that the United States continues to lead the world on data center infrastructure.

I browsed very quickly and while the claim of overstating certainly fits my prior, many things are nitpicky and there is not very much of an audit of the actual substance. Perhaps there is the right way to do it at scale but this doesn't seem like it is that

"The [@PacificLegal coalition] letter [including @MNThinkTank] calls upon lawmakers to pass BAAJA to make permitting more predictable, protect property rights, and support the energy and infrastructure projects Americans need."

Yes an even more concerning, imho, is think for a second about Podesta’s “unhappy” case: we get a ton more energy infrastructure permitted.
Podesta would rather you be energy poorer, than you be energy richer but it’s natural gas. Profoundly out of touch with voters.
I am not a climate-first guy. But I am glad to have a big tent behind BAAJA.

A bipartisan permitting bill is the best chance we've had to build clean energy at scale.
Progressives shouldn't pass it up. View article
Two new reports today say permitting reform can improve climate outcomes.
