김수현 씨와 당사가 고 김새론 씨의 유족 및 고인의 이모를 사칭한 자 등을 상대로 제기한 여러 건의 고소·고발 사건에 대한 경찰 수사 결과를 다음과 같이 알려드립니다.
앞서 가로세로연구소 운영자가 관련 사건으로 구속기소된 데 이어, 이와 함께 허위사실 유포 등 일련의 범행에 가담한 공범들에 대해서도 범죄 혐의가 인정되어 검찰에 송치되었습니다.
이번에 송치된 공범들에는 고인의 모친과 고인의 이모를 사칭한 자 등이 포함되어 있으며, 이들에게는 정보통신망 이용촉진 및 정보보호 등에 관한 법률 위반(허위사실 적시에 의한 명예훼손), 성폭력범죄의 처벌 등에 관한 특례법 위반(카메라 등을 이용한 촬영물 반포), 강요미수 등의 혐의가 적용되었습니다. 고인의 부친에 대해서는 불송치 결정이 내려졌습니다.
또한 당초 고소 대상에는 포함되지 않았던 공범들에 대해서도 경찰의 별도 인지수사가 이루어졌습니다. 수사기관에 의해 확인된 허위·조작 자료(카카오톡 위·변조, AI 음성 조작)를 이용하여 두 차례 기자회견을 주도했던 유족 측 변호인과 유튜브 채널 ‘권영찬TV’ 운영자에 대해서도 각각 범죄 혐의가 인정되어 검찰에 송치되었습니다.
부지석 변호사는 형법상 명예훼손 및 정보통신망 이용촉진 및 정보보호 등에 관한 법률 위반(허위사실 적시에 의한 명예훼손) 혐의로, 권영찬은 성폭력범죄의 처벌 등에 관한 특례법 위반(카메라 등을 이용한 촬영물 반포) 혐의로 각각 검찰에 송치되었습니다.
방대한 자료와 객관적인 증거를 바탕으로 사실관계를 면밀히 확인하여 범행의 실체와 가담자들을 밝혀주신 수사기관의 노고에 깊이 감사드립니다.

We would like to share the results of the police investigation into several complaints and accusations filed by #KimSoohyun and our company against the family of the late Kim Saeron and individuals who impersonated the deceased’s aunt.
Following the indictment and detention of Kim Seui of Garo Sero Research Institute in connection with the case, alleged accomplices who participated with Kim Seui in a series of offenses, including spreading false information, were also found to have criminal charges against them and were referred to the prosecution.
The accomplices referred to the prosecution this time include individuals who impersonated the deceased’s mother and aunt. They face charges including violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation through false statements), violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distributing recordings made using cameras or other devices), and attempted coercion. A decision was made not to refer the deceased’s father to the prosecution.
In addition, the police conducted separate investigations into alleged accomplices who were not originally included in the complaints. Attorney Boo Jiseok, the lawyer representing the bereaved family who led two press conferences using false and manipulated materials confirmed by investigators, including forged or altered KakaoTalk messages and AI-manipulated audio, as well as Kwon Youngchan, operator of the YouTube channel Kwon Youngchan TV, were each found to have criminal charges against them and were referred to the prosecution.
Attorney Boo Jiseok was referred to the prosecution on charges of criminal defamation and violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation through false statements). Kwon Youngchan was referred to the prosecution on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distributing recordings made using cameras or other devices).
