I think the best hit rate signal is noticing divergence on charts and sentiment -after a downtrend when people are wiped and becoming even more bearish, charts start chopping/ grinding up while negative sentiment accelerates -after an uptrend where you start seeing classic bullish news not move charts any higher etc etc
