Mansoor Hussain Laghari was born in Sindh, Pakistan. He later served ten years in the @USArmy and is an American veteran who describes his weapon of choice as “cinema as a weapon of peace.” Laghari proudly calls himself a “Muslim Zionist” — a label he embraces, not hides from. He believes storytelling can dismantle hate. Through powerful, human-centered narratives, he works to challenge antisemitism, confront religious intolerance, and build bridges where others build walls. That commitment recently came at a cost. Mr. Laghari was reportedly booted out of the Al-Aqsa Mosque — not for misconduct, but for wearing a yellow pin symbolizing solidarity with the hostages held in Gaza. According to reporting by @Adi13, a security guard told him: “So why are you wearing that yellow pin? You are supporting Jews. If you want to stay here, you must remove it.” He said on LinkedIn: Let this sink in. A Muslim. Inside a mosque (The Dome of the Rock) About to pray. Removed — not for violence, not for disruption — but for refusing to erase Jewish suffering. I felt anger. I felt deep sadness. And I felt shock at what faith was reduced to in that moment. People around the world shout the word apartheid. Here is the bitter irony: I can move freely everywhere in Israel. The only place I was restricted and detained was an area under Muslim-controlled, Jordan-supervised authority at Al-Aqsa and the Dome of Rock. Those who oppose Israel often insist they have nothing against “Jews.” Yet, when speaking privately — or when authority is exercised — the language and the intent frequently tell a different story. Al-Aqsa Mosque is administered by two stakeholders, including the Hashemite Custodian of the Muslim and Christian Holy Sites in Jerusalem. That role is held by His Majesty King Abdullah II @KingAbdullahII of the @RHCJO — a long-standing friend and ally of both the United Kingdom and the United States. His father, King Hussein, who sadly died in 1999, earned deep respect in the West, and King Abdullah has continued that legacy. Few Arab monarchs, or royal families, have ever commanded greater respect in Western capitals. His Majesty King Abdullah II also serves as Colonel-in-Chief of the @LDLightCav of the @BritishArmy. I have, somewhere in my files, a copy of @soldiermagazine that explores the King’s long-standing relationship with the cavalry regiment—fascinating, isn’t it? In light of that relationship, I sincerely hope His Majesty will address and correct this deeply troubling incident — an injustice carried out against an American military veteran for expressing basic human solidarity. In my book, everything Mansoor Laghari has done marks him as a man of principle.
